YOU Season 5 Wraps Up The Complicated Thriller On Netflix

TVLine reports that YOU Season 5 is headed back to Netflix. And although it’s going to be the show’s final season, there are still plenty of loose ends to wrap up in Joe Goldberg’s life.

During YOU Season 4, Joe Goldberg moved to London after faking his own death in the United States. In England, he masquerades as a college professor named Jonathan Moore and falls in love with heiress, Kate Lockwood. And as the season went on, many realized Joe had finally met his match with Kate — she was just as diabolical as he.

But Joe’s love for Kate may not stop him from stalking yet another victim.

“Here we are, together again, back to where it began,” Penn Badgley says as Joe in a voice-over in the new trailer. “A lot has happened these many years together — identities, cities, loves, complications — but all that led me here, to now, to where I was always meant to be. And the one constant, the one thing that’s always been there for me, is you. You, who have been there the whole time and will be there with me until the end. Goodbye, you.”

Many Figures From Joe’s Previous Lives Return

TVLine points out that many characters from YOU‘s previous seasons will make appearances — even though many of them are deceased. But fans know that Joe Goldberg often hallucinates. Is it possible the ghosts of his past will come back to haunt him as he embarks on another deadly spree?

Returning characters include:

  • Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail)
  • Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti)
  • Marienne Bellamy (Tati Gabrielle)
  • Kate Lockwood (Charlotte Richie)
  • Benji (Lou Taylor Pucci)
  • Cary Conrad (Travis Van Winkle)
  • Sherry Conrad (Shalita Grant)
  • Delilah Alves (Carmela Zumbado)

“We have kept scrupulous track of everybody who knows anything about Joe who’s not dead,” showrunner Sera Gamble told TVLine in a previous interview. “There are some very smart people who are alive. Some of them are in jail, and some of them are basically in witness protection, but there’s no reason to believe he’s safe.”
