The cast of Young Guns just reunited at a fan event 38 years after the 1988 film premiered.

On September 13, Lou Diamond Phillips took to X with a photo of himself and most of his Young Guns castmates. The group — including Philips, Casey Siemaszko, Emilio Estevez, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen and Dermot Mulroney  — attended Fan Expo Dallas over the weekend at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.

“F’ing Epic!” he captioned the group photo.

Additionally, Mulroney shared a snap on his Instagram grid featuring the Young Guns stars. His photo, however, also included Terry O’Quinn, who played Alex McSween in the film.

“38 years later,” he captioned the update. “#youngguns rides again – PALS.”

One main cast member missing from the reunion was Jack Palance, who played the villain Lawrence G. “L.G.” Murphy; he died in 2006 at 87.

Young Guns premiered in theaters on August 12, 1988. The movie’s logline reads, “A group of young gunmen, led by Billy the Kid [Estevez], become deputies to avenge the murder of the rancher who became their benefactor. But when Billy takes their authority too far, they become the hunted.”

After the 1988 original, Young Guns II premiered in 1990.

Estevez announced in early 2025 that he would direct Young Guns III: Dead or Alive and reprise his role as Billy the Kid. In November, TV Insider shared an update.

“Yes, the Internet rumors are true. There is a Young Guns 3,” Phillips confirmed. “I’ve read the script. It is fantastic. Emilio wrote it.”

He added, “John Fusco, the original writer and producer, is on board. I think he helped Emilio with the script. Emilio will direct.”

As of writing, a premiere date for Young Guns III has not been announced.
