Adam Sandler and the Happy Madison crew have packed their bags and crossed the pond. Production for Grown Ups 3 has officially moved from New Jersey to Europe for its international leg of filming, bringing the long-awaited comedy sequel one step closer to our Netflix screens. But wait—there’s a twist!
As we’ve been tracking over the past year, the highly anticipated third installment in the Grown Ups franchise is finally happening. Following our initial scoop that the film was in the works at Netflix, we recently covered the full cast announcement and compiled an everything-we-know guide for the upcoming comedy.
As we’ve been covering for quite some time, Grown Ups 3, unlike the prior movies, will be heading out of the United States and we’ve heard a myriad of places that will be used to film but we’ve finally got confirmation. The international Italy Unit kicked off filming on September 21, 2026, and is scheduled to wrap up its European scenes on October 14, 2026. (The overall production, which began on August 3 in New Jersey, will wrap completely on October 28, we hear).
However, while the cast is enjoying the pasta and sights of Italy, the movie’s plot actually has the gang somewhere else entirely.
Turin Transforms into Paris
While local Italian outlets have spotted Adam Sandler out and about in the northern city of Turin (Torino), the production isn’t actually using Italy as Italy. Through the power of movie magic, they are using the Italian locations as a stand-in for France! Local Italian outlets like Sky TG24 and Corriere della Sera (fun fact: the franchise is known as Weekend da bamboccioni in Italy!) have spotted Adam Sandler out and about in the northern city of Turin (Torino) in the Piedmont region. Some of the cast has also been spotted staying in Milan.
Locals in Turin have been watching the transformation firsthand. As one update from the set shared today highlighted:
” Today, Turin becomes Paris. Another day of filming and the city center changes its look: a few movie-set details and, for a few hours, Turin turns into the French capital. Hollywood keeps rolling through our streets. “
Filming in Turin is utilizing several iconic locations in the city center, including Via Roma, Piazza San Carlo, Via Duse, Via Principe Amedeo, and around the Egyptian and Risorgimento museums. Before arriving in Turin, the crew was also hard at work shooting scenes in the stunning Valle d’Aosta region and Sardinia.

So, what exactly is the gang doing in “France”?
The official logline teases: “Now that their kids are all grown up, the gang is finally free to go on the ultimate adventure.” And it seems that adventure involves running into alternate versions of themselves!
We can confirm that earlier this year, a casting notice went out in late June looking for specific actors to play “French Doppelgängers” of our main cast. According to the casting call, the production was hunting for fluent French speakers in their late 50s/early 60s who resembled Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade, and Rob Schneider.
Directed by Kyle Newacheck (Murder Mystery), the sequel is penned by frequent collaborators Tim Herlihy and Adam Sandler. Returning for the third outing alongside Sandler, Rock, James, Spade, and Schneider are Maria Bello (Sally), Salma Hayek (Roxanne), and Maya Rudolph (Deanne).
With filming slated to conclude by late October, we’ll likely be looking at a mid-to-late 2027 release window for Grown Ups 3. We’ll keep you updated as soon as Netflix drops any official release dates or first-look images.
