Based on the best-selling book by Elísabet Benavent, this road trip drama-comedy follows a group of friends for the bachelorette party of one of them… before honest conversations and untold secrets threaten to derail the whole thing. Should you give it a few hours of your time?
Author Elísabet Benavent has enjoyed a fruitful relationship with Netflix. The streamer has greenlit series Valeria and A Perfect Story from her, and now gives her new adaptation an envied late-summer launch. Actually, the late August berth helps the case of All The Truth In My Lies, with beach scenery and camping antics mirroring the experiences of (a fraction of) the Netflix subscribers who are seeking an extended summertime fix.
The plot is pretty straightforward: a group of longtime friends organize a bachelorette party for lawyer Blanca (Clara Sans). They include Coco (Itziar Manero) and her longtime best friend and roommate Marin (Daniel Ibáñez); Coco’s boyfriend and poet Gus (Ricardo Gómez), gay confidant Loren (Brays Efe); and Marin’s ex, the energetic and bratty Aroa (Lucía de la Fuente). The crew gets away to the idyllic town of Mazarrón, for a light adventure in a van and all the group dynamics it entails.
The series does not really give strong, soapy twists or big arguments in order to get us on board; instead, co-writers María Togores and Marina Pérez establish an ordinary, lived-in dynamic for people who know each other inside and out. Subscribers looking for torrid hook-ups and dramatic hijinks can look elsewhere; those who stay are bound to be charmed by their low-stakes bickering and the emotional truth that eventually oozes out of them.

All The Truth In My Lies revels in the untold emotional truths, and makes the best of having its cast navigate its camping activities and low-stakes bickering. But soon, it focuses on the dynamic between Coco and Marin, whose years of living in the same household have made them each other’s rocks, with their own rituals and in-jokes (they have their own mugs for their nicknames, Anchovy and Sardine)… and the magnetic attraction that neither of them truly addressed until events bring them even closer together. Itziar Manero and Daniel Ibáñez are served by a script that escapes rom-com tropes: poet Gus is not necessarily an overbearing boyfriend, and Aroa harbors unrequited feelings for Marin… but the main topic of the miniseries is what to do when friendship between two best friends reaches a plateau and blossoms into something else.
The booming, expertly curated pop-rock soundtrack and Spanish ’90s earworms (Coco and Marin’s favorite song by ’90s group Camela features prominently) give a lot of color to the proceedings, giving a naturalistic feel to the exchanges. None of the scenes or characters in the series feel overly gimmicky or anonymous; a lot of work is accomplished, mostly successfully, to make this group relatable. The quite successful finale highlights the main weakness of the series: the work necessary to summarize years of best-friend dynamic and mutual experiences for Coco and Marin is thrown away through a few flashback montages in a different aspect ratio. These scenes could have been included way earlier, as the show does not make great use of its serialized format to hook us into its vacation backdrop. All The Truth In My Lies plays fine as is, but could also have worked indistinguishably as a movie.

Even if not much “happens” plot-wise over the course of its summer stay, the group of characters in this miniseries are well-defined and energetic enough to make them likable without too much effort. It proves that going into chaotic summer plans or uncovering past traumas does not make your characters all that resonant. Instead, the handful of confessional scenes — mostly to vent about another character’s behavior — count among the most surprisingly moving in the series. All The Truth In My Lies is not designed to be on the “best-of” lists of 2026 for anyone, but shows a lot of dexterity and psychological depth without doing too much. For these reasons, All The Truth In My Lies is actually a stronger entry into Netflix’s Spanish line-up than one would believe at first.

Even if the characters feel a bit nondescript at times, the down-to-earth dialogue and subtle vacation drama slowly evade easy tropes and make this miniseries a steady creative success.
