Ready for some serious nostalgia? Netflix is officially rebooting the beloved 2004 romantic comedy 13 Going on 30. While exact plot details for this modern reimagining are currently being kept tightly under wraps, the fact that original stars Jennifer Garner (who is also attached as an Executive Producer) and Judy Greer are among the massive ensemble cast has us incredibly excited.

The project comes from RK Films and Revolution Studios, with a reported budget in the 30-50M range. Filming took place over the summer in Los Angeles and officially wrapped up on August 10th, 2026. With the movie currently in post-production, a 2027 release window seems like a safe bet.

Current rom-com it-boy Nicholas Galitzine (Red, White & Royal Blue, The Idea of You) and comedy legend Ben Stiller are teaming up for this high-concept supernatural comedy. A Matter of Time follows an unlikely angel who is sent from heaven to convince a reclusive man to give up his life for the greater good. While the man actually agrees to the sacrifice, his impending death unexpectedly triggers a brand new lease on life—and a budding romance that threatens to change the entire course of history.

Co-produced by Netflix and Columbia Pictures, the project has some serious pedigree behind the camera. It’s being directed by Harry Bradbeer (who won an Emmy for Fleabag and directed Netflix’s Enola Holmes movies) and features a script worked on by a team of heavy-hitting writers, including Oscar-winner Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire). The movie is in production presumably for a 2027 or 2028 release.

  • Expected Release Window: TBD

Following her highly publicized return to acting in Netflix’s Back in Action, Cameron Diaz is sticking with the streamer for this brand-new action-comedy! Bad Day promises to be a wild, fast-paced ride, following a single mom who will stop at nothing to keep one little promise to her daughter on what quickly devolves into the absolute worst day of her life.

With director Jake Szymanski at the helm—the comedy mastermind behind hits like Jury Duty and Tour de Pharmacy—and a script by Laura Solon (Office Christmas Party), you can expect plenty of laughs amidst the chaos. The comedy ensemble to support Diaz, includes fan-favorites like Sam Richardson, Ben Schwartz, Mark Duplass, and Rob Corddry, alongside rising stars Rhenzy Feliz and Jessica Belkin. Filming took place across New York and New Jersey in the fall of 2025 and officially wrapped up just before the holidays. Netflix royalty Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Never Have I Ever) is returning to the streamer in this high-energy college comedy. Best of the Best follows childhood best friends Maya (Ramakrishnan) and Anjali (Priyanka Kedia), who join their university’s competitive Bollywood dance team. However, they quickly discover that the road to winning the national championship is far more raucous, grueling, and cutthroat than they ever imagined.

Originally set up at Amazon MGM before moving over to Netflix in early 2025, the film is co-written, produced by, and stars comedian Hasan Minhaj alongside writer/producer Prashanth Venkataramanujam. Behind the camera is director Lena Khan, who already has a great working relationship with Ramakrishnan from directing episodes of Never Have I Ever. Filmed late last summer in New Jersey, this one is completely finished and ready to go.

Better Than the Movies

  • Genre: Teen Romantic Comedy / Coming-of-Age

  • Cast: Beatrice Kitsos and David Iacono
  • Current Status: Pre-Production
  • Expected Release Window: Late 2027

Fans of Lynn Painter’s wildly popular YA novel have a lot to be excited about! Netflix is bringing the beloved BookTok sensation Better Than the Movies to the screen. The story follows high school senior Liz Buxbaum (played by Beatrice Kitsos), a hopeless romantic whose life is entirely shaped by her obsession with classic rom-coms. To get the attention of her untouchable crush, she reluctantly enlists the help of her deeply annoying (but cute) next-door neighbor, Wes Bennett (David Iacono).

The adaptation is being steered by the incredibly talented husband-and-wife filmmaking duo Julia Hart and Jordan Horowitz, who co-wrote the script, with Hart directing and Horowitz producing under the Original Headquarters banner. With the film currently in the final stages of pre-production, cameras are set to roll in Chicago very shortly, kicking off on August 27, 2026, and shooting through late October. Because filming is taking place this fall, we can likely expect this swoon-worthy teen comedy to land on Netflix in the second half of 2027.

If there is anyone perfectly suited to capture the fast-talking, delightfully chaotic energy of the Plaza Hotel’s most infamous resident, it’s Amy Sherman-Palladino! The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel creator is stepping into the director’s chair (replacing previously attached director Augustine Frizzell) for this big-budget adaptation of Kay Thompson’s classic children’s book series about a mischievous young girl wreaking havoc across New York City.

Newcomer Mae Schenk steps into the titular role of Eloise, backed by an incredible supporting cast that includes Ryan Reynolds (who is also producing under his Maximum Effort banner alongside MRC and HandMade Films), Sally Hawkins, and Victor Garber. The script boasts some serious pedigree, with contributions from Sherman-Palladino, Hannah Marks, and legendary Disney scribe Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King). Filming took place over a massive shoot spanning from late November 2025 through early April 2026, split between London and New York City. With the film currently deep in post-production, expect this family-friendly blockbuster to arrive on Netflix by late 2026 or early 2027.

The ultimate comedy squad is getting back together! Happy Madison Productions is officially reviving the Grown Ups franchise for a third installment, this time bringing the gang exclusively to Netflix. The highly anticipated threequel will reunite Adam Sandler (Lenny), Kevin James (Eric), Chris Rock (Kurt), David Spade (Marcus), and yes, even Rob Schneider (Rob), who missed out on the second film! The powerhouse trio of Salma Hayek, Maria Bello, and Maya Rudolph are also returning.

With their kids finally all grown up and out of the house, the empty-nester crew is completely free to go on the “ultimate adventure.” While exact plot specifics are being kept quiet, we know that production is currently underway across New Jersey and Italy, heavily suggesting the gang is going on a massive European vacation. Directed by Happy Madison regular Kyle Newacheck (Murder Mystery), filming just kicked off earlier this month on August 3, 2026, and is scheduled to wrap up in mid-October. Given the timeline, this has all the makings of a massive Summer 2027 blockbuster for the streamer.

Netflix broke the bank for this highly anticipated R-rated romantic comedy, shelling out a massive $55 million for the rights at the European Film Market back in March 2025. Written and directed by Lena Dunham, Good Sex follows Ally (Natalie Portman, who also produces under her MountainA banner), a successful couples’ therapist who, after ending a decade-long relationship, is dragged kicking and screaming back into the chaotic New York dating scene just as she turns 40.

Ally soon finds herself in a full-blown identity crisis when she gets torn between two wildly different men: a steamy fling with a 20-something Brooklyn hipster (likely played by pop star Role Model) and a promising, conventional relationship with Alan, a successful 50-something Manhattanite (presumably Mark Ruffalo). With a phenomenal supporting cast that includes Rashida Jones, Tramell Tillman, and actual rom-com royalty Meg Ryan, this is easily one of the most exciting adult-skewing comedies on Netflix’s upcoming roster. Filming took place across New York and New Jersey in the summer of 2025, so with the movie completely finished and awaiting release, expect to see this one hit the platform very soon!

Guarding Stars

  • Genre: Romantic Comedy / Holiday
  • Director: Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum (Purple Hearts)
  • Writers: Erin Cardillo & Richard Keith (Based on the novel The Bodyguard by Katherine Center)
  • Cast: Leighton Meester, Jared Padalecki, Andie MacDowell, Walker Hayes, Noah LaLonde, Toby Sandeman, and CM Punk
  • Current Status: Post-Production
  • Expected Release: Holiday 2026

It wouldn’t be Christmas without a metric tonne of new holiday rom-coms. The lineup is getting an exciting, action-packed addition with Guarding Stars. Based on Katherine Center’s bestselling novel The Bodyguard, the film follows Hannah Brooks (Leighton Meester), a no-nonsense bodyguard who is assigned to protect Jack Stapleton (Jared Padalecki), a charming action star, over the holidays. Naturally, sparks fly, secrets unravel, and the festive season gets wonderfully complicated.

Produced by Little Engine and Living in the Asterisk (with Jared and Genevieve Padalecki serving as producers), the movie features an incredibly fun and eclectic supporting cast, including rom-com royalty Andie MacDowell, country singer Walker Hayes, and wrestling superstar CM Punk. Filming took place in Calgary, Alberta, wrapping up in March 2026 after a brief winter hiatus. Given the holiday setting and its current post-production status, you can safely expect this one to hit your screens just in time for Christmas 2026.

In a Holidaze

  • Genre: Romantic Comedy / Holiday / Sci-Fi
  • Director: Tiffany Paulsen (Holidate)
  • Writer: Tiffany Paulsen (Based on the bestselling novel by Christina Lauren)
  • Cast: Maddie Ziegler, Rob Lowe, Graham Phillips, Elias Kacavas, Andrea Anders, Gil Bellows, Patton Oswalt, Jackie Sandler, Luke Roessler, and Meredith Salenger
  • Current Status: Post-Production
  • Expected Release Window: Holiday 2026

Think Groundhog Day meets a cozy Christmas rom-com! Based on the hit novel by writing duo Christina Lauren (Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings), In a Holidaze follows Maelyn Jones (played by Maddie Ziegler). Maelyn is living with her parents, stuck in a dead-end job, and has just made a romantic error of epic proportions. During a Christmas trip to her family’s favorite snowy Utah cabin, she begs the universe to help her find happiness—and suddenly finds herself trapped in a holiday time-loop she can’t escape.

This project marks an exciting milestone, as it’s the first film produced under a new first-look deal between Netflix and Alloy Entertainment. Rob Lowe is not only starring in the film but is also on board as an Executive Producer. Filming took place earlier this year in Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia, wrapping up in March 2026. Given the snowy setting and time-loop premise, this is primed to be a massive hit for Netflix’s Holiday 2026 schedule.

Millie Bobby Brown is continuing her immensely successful partnership with Netflix in this highly anticipated romantic comedy! Just Picture It follows two carefree college students who get the shock of a lifetime when their phones mysteriously glitch. In the present day, they haven’t even met yet.

Brown leads the cast alongside rising star Gabriel LaBelle (The Fabelmans, SNL 1975) and Anthony Keyvan (XO, Kitty). In addition to starring, Brown is also producing the film under her PCMA Productions banner alongside Robert Brown and Jake Bongiovi, teaming up with Roth Kirschenbaum Films (The Gray Man). Directed by Lee Toland Krieger—who has a great history with Netflix from his work on Shadow and Bone and You—the movie was shot in and around Atlanta, Georgia, in the fall of 2025. The film is completely finished and in the can, with Netflix officially confirming it for their 2027 slate.

The catch? They’ve forgotten the password. With only three days left before the account permanently expires, the exes must retrace their steps from that fateful night—not just to secure their massive fortune, but also to rediscover why they fell in love in the first place.

This project is backed by Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps Entertainment and Linden Entertainment, with Pitch Perfect scribe and Blockers director Kay Cannon pulling triple duty as writer, director, and executive producer. The supporting cast is stacked with comedy heavyweights, including Kate McKinnon and Larry Wilmore, as well as Yara Shahidi. Filming took place in Los Angeles and the Dominican Republic from late February to early May 2026. Now deep in post-production, we expect this sun-soaked crypto-caper to drop sometime in late 2026 or early 2027.

Positano Netflix Movie

If you love a glamorous, globe-trotting caper with a side of romance, Positano should be at the very top of your watchlist. The film follows a charming jewel thief who abandons the “good life” to help a mysterious woman. Together, they plot a high-stakes heist that promises a payout worth far more than just money.

The movie boasts an A-list leading duo, with Matthew McConaughey and Zoe Saldaña officially confirmed to star after entering talks late last year, alongside the always-brilliant Toni Collette. Behind the scenes, the project is being produced by Working Title—the legendary production company behind some of the greatest British rom-coms of all time (Notting HillLove Actually). Production took full advantage of its namesake, with filming taking place across Rome, Lombardy, and Positano, Italy, before wrapping up just last month in July 2026. Given the sun-drenched Italian setting, we’re betting Netflix will save this one for a massive Summer 2027 release.

Protecting Jared

  • Genre: Action-Comedy / Buddy Picture
  • Director: Ruben Fleischer (ZombielandVenomUncharted)
  • Writers: Rob Klein & John Solomon
  • Cast: Jason Momoa, Andy Samberg, Aimee Carrero, and Jai Courtney
  • Current Status: Post-Production

Get ready for the ultimate odd-couple pairing! When a dangerous kidnapping plot erupts, the two polar opposites are forced to survive and fight their way through the Hawaiian wilderness together.

The project—which sparked a massive bidding war when it was first pitched—pairs action heavyweight Momoa (who also produces under his On the Roam banner) with comedy veteran Samberg (producing via Party Over Here). The script comes from longtime SNL and MacGruber writers Rob Klein and John Solomon, with action-comedy specialist Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) directing. Filming took place on location in Oahu, Hawaii, and Los Angeles, officially wrapping up in April 2026. With the movie currently in post-production, we expect this high-octane comedy to hit Netflix in 2027.
