With Netflix gearing up to release the Korean adaptation of Doctor X, fans of the original Japanese medical drama have a reason to get excited: Doctor X is set to premiere on Netflix on September 1. All 7 seasons are expected to arrive, making it a perfect binge for J-drama viewers.
Doctor X is a Japanese medical drama written by Nakzono Miho and co-directed by Matsuda Hidetomo and Tamura Naoki. Running for 7 seasons between October 2012 and December 2021, the series is one of the most popular medical dramas of the 2010s.
The series stars Yonekura Ryoko as Daimon Michiko, a star freelance surgeon who is as excellent as she is mysterious, since none of her colleagues know how she acquired her incredible skills or anything about her private life.
A K-drama adaptation of Doctor X, starring Kim Ji Won as the genius surgeon Kye Su Jeong, will air on SBS and be streamed globally on Netflix from October 9, 2026.

So far, all we know is that there will be “seasons” of Doctor X coming to Netflix in September. However, given that the medical J-drama has 7 seasons, we expect all seven to be released on Netflix.

It’s unclear whether the film Doctor X: The Movie FINAL is coming to Netflix. As the film is the conclusion of the story, we’re hoping it will arrive on Netflix alongside the series.
