Netflix is reteaming with esteemed documentary maker Joshua Rofé for a new feature scheduled to arrive in 2024 called Vampires of Gem City.

Joshua Rofé is the director behind the new doc, serving as his second major project for the streamer. Rofé first teamed up with Netflix on the fantastic Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal & Greed, which was released in August 2021. It’s fair to say that the documentary was a little contentious, with lots of stories following the fallout from the discoveries and stories told throughout.

Elsewhere, Rofé has worked on Sasquatch, Kupenda, Kids Behind Bars: Life or Parole, Lorena, and Active Shooter: America Under Fire.

Per the official logline for the new vampire documentary, which doesn’t have a lot of information online at the moment, here’s what you can expect:

“For the last 30 years, Dayton, Ohio has been home to the largest coven of vampires outside of New Orleans. When a man goes missing in the goth nightclub they use as their headquarters, the case goes cold until a police officer comes forward in 2008 with a story.”

In case you missed it – this is the second documentary announcement we’ve covered this week, with the other being Secrets of the Neanderthals, which will feature the narration of Sir Patrick Stewart.

This is just one of Netflix’s broad slate of documentaries planned throughout 2024. Others include Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa, Sherpa, What Jennifer Did, Will & Harper, and Ibelin.
