Netflix is continuing its major push into live event programming with a massive new interactive reality dating series, Netflix, Will You Marry Me? The upcoming fixed-rig format will put global viewers in the driving seat as they help “Britain’s most eligible bachelor” find his future wife.
The news was first broken in an exclusive by John Elmes at BroadcastNow, revealing the major new commission with Netflix UK’s blessing. The series marks the highly anticipated debut order from Syeda Irtizaali, Netflix’s UK Director of Unscripted, who joined the streamer last year after a stellar run at the BBC where she commissioned the smash-hit The Traitors.

What is Netflix, Will You Marry Me?
Described by insiders as a blend of Big Brother meets Married At First Sight, the tentpole series will center on one man—dubbed “Britain’s most eligible bachelor”—who moves into a custom-built, fixed-rig mansion in the UK.
He will be joined by a group of women who have self-selected for the show by answering a simple “yes” when asked if they would marry him.
The biggest twist? The bachelor isn’t the only one making the decisions. Spanning 12 live episodes over four weeks, Netflix is handing total control over to its global subscriber base. Viewers around the world will vote on every major decision, every one-on-one date, and every dramatic exit until the bachelor is left with his ideal bride.
Banijay UK has provided an official synopsis for the upcoming series:
“Across four weeks and 12 LIVE episodes one man will hand over TOTAL control to the Netflix viewers to find his true love and ask the audience, “Netflix, Will You Marry Me?” EVERY big decision and EVERY dramatic exit will be voted for by Netflix members.
Get ready for a whirlwind of dates, drama and fairytale romance all leading to one genuine, LIVE televised proposal – the question is who do YOU choose? It’s his life and your choice.”
The fixed-rig setup (where cameras are built into the mansion’s walls, similar to Big Brother) is designed to maximize transparency and minimize off-camera issues. According to Broadcast, the production will employ highly evolved duty-of-care protocols to ensure the safety and agency of all participants.
Who is producing the series?
Netflix, Will You Marry Me? is being produced by two Banijay UK powerhouses: Workerbee (Love Triangle) and Initial (Celebrity Bear Hunt, Big Brother, Last One Laughing UK).
The project is a joint collaboration between Irtizaali’s UK unscripted team and Netflix’s recently established live programming division, headed up by Daisy Lilley.
Executive producing the series are Michelle Chappell and Rick Murray for Workerbee, alongside Tamsin Dodgson and Katy Manley for Initial.
Rick Murray, CEO of Workerbee, teased the massive scope of the project:

The project comes at a time when Netflix UK reality series have really struggled to break through and, to some extent, beyond established hits, Netflix’s overall reality programming has struggled. The UK team has really struggled with Sneaky Links: Dating After Dark, Cheat, Celebrity Bear Hunt, and Buying London, all of which have failed to break through. Netflix’s live programming in this space has been a bust, too, with Building the Band and Pop The Balloon Live both canceled after a single season.

We still have a little while to wait before we can start voting. Banijay and Netflix have confirmed that filming for the live series will begin in 2027, with the 12-episode event launching globally on the streamer later that same year.
