Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Is Fun But It Doesn’t Need a Second Season

There are a lot of great things to say about Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.

It’s a fun series, and the cameos from The Big Bang Theory haven’t taken over the plot of the show.

The problem is that this is a story that could end up dragging if it’s renewed, and it could end up being more powerful and memorable if it’s a one-and-done series.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Season 1 has immediately created a problem for the series as a whole.

There are only so many parallel dimensions for Stuart to jump into. Eventually, it’s going to get annoying to see him get into a world and then fail to do anything.

Leonard, Sheldon, and Howard are the ones who created the machine and caused trouble, and they’re the only ones who can fix it.

So, as Stuart, Bert, Kripke, and Denise jump through the universes, they need to find each universe’s version of the three creators.

That’s great, except that they seem to be losing the plot, forgetting what they’re actually there to do.

There Are Only So Many Universes for Stuart Fails to Save the Universe

In the first world jump during Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Season 1 Episode 2, Stuart immediately focused on finding Denise to be with her while Bert and Kripke did what they were meant to do — get to CalTech.

Then, during Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Season 1 Episode 3, they went off to find Bernadette. 

Now, yes, Stuart is supposed to “fail” to save the universe, but there is a limit to this. 

Just because a show is fun doesn’t mean that it can go on forever.

I do suspect that Stuart Fails to Save the Universe will be renewed for a second season, and while I don’t think it’s necessary, I’m not going to complain too much.

As long as it doesn’t drag on.

Eventually, a sci-fi series, especially, needs to wrap up, because the goal set from the start needs to be met.

Sure, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe as a title hints that it could be allowed to continue forever, but just because Stuart fails doesn’t mean that Bert, Kripke, or Denise have to.

Eventually, they’re going to get tired and want to move on, whether it’s Kripke going back to the apocalyptic world he was the dictator in or Stuart and Bert just wanting peace.

It’s not realistic for them to get to a universe, deal with a small problem, and jump into another universe when the going gets tough.

If the show only jumps through universes with no substantial movement toward the goal, then people start to get bored.

A sci-fi series needs to have a clear ending, so the best thing to do is end on a high, even if it means it lasts for just one season.
