Virgin River Season 7 ended the way it always does: with maximum disruption and minimal resolution. A newborn was rushed into surgery, Brady’s motorcycle violently hit the pavement, and Doc and Hope fractured over a massive partnership decision. The town was left mid-crisis and mid-celebration.

Fortunately, answers are on the horizon. The cameras have officially stopped rolling on Season 8!

Season 8 Production Wraps in Canada

Virgin River made Netflix history when it was renewed for Season 8 well ahead of the Season 7 premiere, officially cementing it as Netflix’s longest-running scripted English-language live-action series (surpassing the likes of Grace and Frankie and Orange is the New Black).

Production on the 10-episode eighth season kicked off on April 22, 2026, and officially wrapped yesterday, August 10, 2026, totaling 110 days of filming as originally planned. A number of stories by the cast and crew can be found online, and we’ve got a couple embedded below:

Kandyse McClure, who we were lucky enough to speak to with the arrival of Season 7, posted a story with the caption, “My feet hurt from dancing, my face hurts from smiling. And my heart is full to bursting. Another incredible season in the can!”

As always, the series utilized the breathtaking landscapes of British Columbia to bring the picturesque town to life. The cast and crew spent the summer shooting across nine distinct filming regions throughout the province, including regular hubs like North Vancouver and Burnaby, alongside Squamish, Chilliwack, and Langley.

Series star Martin Henderson helms the premiere, following his successful directorial debut in Season 6. Meanwhile, veteran director Martin Wood extends his record as the most prolific director in Virgin River history to a whopping 23 episodes, and Sweet Magnolias alum Norman Buckley joins the roster. Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith remains at the helm.

As many fans have continued to note, behind-the-scenes intel has been very much lacking in recent scenes, with very few clues leaking out. Zibby Loo did post a dispatch video, and Norman Buckley’s BTS posts seem to reveal that Halloween will play a role next season (via Virgin River Passionate).

When Will Virgin River Season 8 Release on Netflix?

With filming officially wrapped this week, a standard six-to-seven-month post-production turnaround places the release perfectly in Q1 2027. However, we might actually have the exact month pinpointed thanks to a massive clue from the publishing world. A stunning new Collector’s Edition of Robyn Carr’s original Virgin River novel was recently announced, slated for release on March 2, 2027. Is that a guide or pure coincidence? We’ll have to wait and see.
