The doors to Grey Sloan Memorial are opening once again. One of the longest-running scripted shows in television history is returning for another round of high-stakes medical drama on ABC this October.

Despite Disney’s massive push for Hulu and Disney+, Grey’s Anatomy remains a staple on Netflix in the United States and Canada. If you’re someone who prefers to binge the entire season in one sitting rather than watching week-to-week, you’ll need to wait a little while. Here is our release date prediction for Grey’s Anatomy Season 23 based on previous years.

Returning to its regular Thursday night fall slot, Season 23 kicks off on ABC on October 15, 2026. While the exact episode count is still unconfirmed, a standard full-length season usually runs about 18 to 22 episodes, wrapping up in May 2027.

Until the season makes its way to Netflix, Hulu remains the only place to stream the newest episodes on catch-up.

What to Expect from Season 23: Casting Changes and Story Reveals

If you’re eager for a sneak peek at what’s going down at Grey Sloan Memorial, the upcoming season promises a major shakeup. For starters, the hospital is navigating a massive staff loss. Veteran actors Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt) and Kim Raver (Teddy Altman) have officially exited the series following the Season 22 finale, which saw their characters relocate to Paris to start a new chapter. Showrunner Meg Marinis recently teased that the hospital will have a very difficult time rebounding from the loss of the two exceptional attendings.

To help fill the void, a major fresh face is scrubbing in. According to TVLine, James Wolk (Mad Men, Watchmen) is joining the cast in a recurring role as Seth Norton. He’s described as a handsome, arrogant surgeon-turned-businessman who owns a luxury private medical center called Olympic Regent Health. On top of that, despite being fired by Dr. Webber for unlawfully administering an experimental treatment at the end of last season, Harry Shum Jr. (Dr. Benson “Blue” Kwan) is officially slated to return for Season 23, setting up a potential redemption arc.

When will Season 23 be on Netflix in the US?

If we look at historical release trends, predicting the Netflix release date for Grey’s Anatomy is a fairly straightforward science. In almost every recent year, the show has hit Netflix US in June, roughly 30 days after the ABC finale. Here is how the last few years have played out:

Assuming Season 23 wraps up its broadcast run on ABC in mid-to-late May 2027 (as is tradition), we predict that all episodes of Grey’s Anatomy Season 23 will hit Netflix US in June 2027.

What about Netflix Canada?

Canadian subscribers always have a slightly longer wait than their neighbors to the south. New seasons of Grey’s Anatomy don’t arrive 30 days after the finale; instead, they typically drop in the fall period (sometime between September and November) ahead of the next season’s premiere.

Based on previous drops, you can expect Season 23 to arrive on Netflix Canada around September or October 2027.

What about other International Regions?

If you’re outside the United States or Canada (such as in the UK, Australia, Europe, or Latin America), your streaming options are mostly limited to Disney-owned services.

Disney pulled the international rights to the show back in early 2022 to fuel its own streaming platforms. That means you won’t be seeing Season 23 on Netflix anytime soon. Internationally, the show now streams exclusively on Disney+ (under the Star banner), where new episodes often drop weekly shortly after their US broadcast.
