‘Dancing with the Stars’: Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong top leadboard again

Reality

Dancing with the Stars featured Chandler Kinney and her pro partner Brandon Armstrong topping the judges’ leaderboard for the third week in a row during the Season 33 episode that aired Monday night on ABC.

Eleven celebrities and their pro partners took the Dancing with the Stars floor for “Soul Train Night,” and Chandler and Brandon outdanced their opponents once again.

Chandler, a TV star, and Brandon topped the scoring leaderboard in first place with 36 out 40 possible points from Dancing with the Stars judges Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli as well as guest judge, former “Soul Train” dancer Rosie Perez.

After Chandler and Brandon danced the cha cha, the judges praised the pair’s partnership and connection. Derek joked about how Chandler “danced her pants off” and Brandon’s choreography was excellent.

The Bachelor star Joey Graziadei and pro partner Jenna Johnson finished in second place on the judges’ leaderboard with 34 points.

Joey and Jenna performed a jive routine, and Bruno pointed out how Joey never missed a beat.

Carrie Ann also called the dance “fabulous” and “amazing” because Joey’s dancing was so crisp and clean.

The Bachelorette star Jenn Tran and pro partner Sasha Farber claimed third place on the judges’ leaderboard with 31 points for their Viennese waltz.

Bruno gushed about how it was one of the sexiest Viennese waltzes he’s ever seen, and Carrie Ann noted how Jenn and Sasha definitely have a chemistry that came to life onstage.

Fourth place on the leaderboard was a whopping four-way tie at 30 points for the following celebrities: The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks, Olympic rugby player Ilona Maher, Olympic medalist Stephen Nedoroscik, and Super Bowl champion Danny Amendola.

Phaedra and her pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy took the stage with a quickstep routine.

Derek thought the dance was “fantastic,” but Bruno asked Phaedra to lift and open her frame a bit more going forward.

Ilona and her pro partner Alan Bersten performed a 30-point worthy foxtrot routine.

Bruno thought the dance was a fluid and proper foxtrot, and Carrie Ann told Ilona that she has improved so much and there has already been quite a beautiful transformation.

Stephen and his pro partner Rylee Arnold danced the quickstep.

Derek said he loved Stephen’s tricks and energy, although there could be some technical improvements.

And Bruno thought the pair looked adorable but said Stephen needs to work on his timing and musicality in the coming weeks.

Danny and his pro partner Witney Carson took the stage with a foxtrot routine.

Derek said Danny’s performance quality and agility shined through and he’s clearly getting better every week.

Carrie Ann also shared how she was “impressed” by Danny this week and he’s finally “popping” and standing out in the Dancing with the Stars competition.

Model and cover girl Brooks Nader and pro partner Gleb Savchenko placed eighth on the judges’ leaderboard after receiving 28 points for their rumba routine.

“That dance made me pregnant,” Derek joked. “That was actually a really, really beautiful rumba — beautiful leg action and extension.”

Carrie Ann said the “talented” Brooks has the potential to go far in this competition because every movement she makes is photo-worthy.

Ninth place on the judges’ leaderboard went to movie star Eric Roberts and pro partner Britt Stewart.

Eric and Britt earned 24 points for their foxtrot routine.

Carrie Ann praised Eric for telling a story and giving artistry through dance, and Derek said there was an ease and grace in Eric’s movements, especially given the routine was dedicated to his wife.

NBA Champion Dwight Howard and pro partner Daniella Karagach — who apparently only had two days to practice because of Dwight’s schedule — finished the night in tenth place on the judges’ leaderboard.

Dwight and Daniella received 23 points for their cha cha performance.

Carrie Ann admitted it was “hard to watch” and she knows Dwight can do better than that. Derek said Dwight is a crowd pleaser and so entertaining but he certainly needs more rehearsing.

And finally, sitcom and movie actor Reginald VelJohnson and pro partner Emma Slater landed in eleventh — and last — place on the leaderboard.

Reginald and Emma danced a foxtrot that received only 21 points from the four judges.

Bruno thought the performance was laid-back and cool, and Carrie Ann was brought to tears because she gushed about how Reginald’s dance was so sweet and innocent.

Another Dancing with the Stars episode is set to air on Tuesday, October 8 at 8PM ET/PT on ABC, and the episode will end with a double elimination based on the combination of judges’ scores and home viewer votes.
