Married at First Sight star Mark Maher has admitted his match, Lindsay, wasn’t like the other women he had dated before signing up for the extreme marriage experiment.

Mark, 37, and Lindsey, 34, were selected to wed on Season 14 of Married at First Sight by the show’s experts Pastor Calvin Roberson, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, and Dr. Viviana Coles.

Mark called Lindsey “beautiful” after first meeting her on their wedding day, but he quickly realized she’s a “wild child” with a boisterous personality.
Lindsey, for example, drank a lot of champagne and burped before walking down the aisle, and before taking photos with Mark, she sprawled across a park bench.
“Mark, is she typical of the girls that you’ve normally dated?” Married at First Sight: Afterparty host Keshia Knight Pulliam asked Mark during last week’s episode.
“No,” Mark admitted. “Most people I dated are not as outgoing as she is. Most people are a little bit more quieter or medium-toned.”
“I mean, Lindsey was pretty excited,” Mark recalled. “And — a lot of excitement.”
Keshia pointed out, however, how maybe Lindsey’s spirit is a good thing considering his past relationships didn’t work out.
“Yeah, yeah, I know,” Mark obliged with a bit of a skeptical smile.
Mark and Lindsey’s co-star Katina agreed that Lindsey’s “personality is a lot.”
“It’s a lot of fun,” Katina said when asked to share her opinion of her fellow bride. “It’s fun. It’s not for everyone.”
During the Afterparty episode, Mark watched back a Season 14 clip of Lindsey and himself taking wedding photos after their ceremony.

Mark and Lindsey were shown glossing over how their mothers were not in attendance and that was a “tough” situation — both to deal with and explain — for them both.
Mark also shared with his new wife how his father had passed away two years prior, and Lindsey offered some comforting words that Mark’s dad was probably there in spirit.
“Mark, do you feel like Lindsey [is] someone you can lean on when times get difficult?” Keshia asked.
“Umm, yeah,” Mark replied.
“I mean, she seems pretty aggressive in the sense that, like, she’ll do anything. Within the first hour, when I met her dad, he was like, ‘She will go to bat for you!’ And I was like, ‘Okay!'”
Lindsey’s dad apparently told Mark that Lindsey would go to bat for him or “go to war” with him.
“[He said], ‘So it’s one of the two! Just choose a side,'” Mark said. “And I was like, ‘Oh, okay, well, Day 1!'”

The couple also chatted during their first wedding dance about how they both dislike country music and love cats. But Lindsey mentioned how they had to talk about their “five-cats situation” since that’s “a lot of pussies in one house.”
“That’s Lindsey!” Mark noted of his wife’s sense of humor, before taking a sip of wine.

Mark, however, seemed to appreciate how Lindsey is “not shy — at all” and she therefore “kept it interesting.”
“I never knew what she was going to say next!” Mark noted.
Fellow MAFS bride Jasmina — who also appeared on Afterparty — told Keshia that Mark should be able to keep up with Lindsey because “he definitely has a personality of his own, too.”
“He wasn’t shy answering any question that she asked, and he wasn’t like, ‘Let’s talk about it later.’ So part of me thinks that he could handle it,” Jasmina explained.
“And then another part of me is like, ‘I don’t know.'”
Mark said on last week’s Season 14 episode of Married at First Sight that Lindsey likes to have fun “like the sun shining in the sky.”
“But I like her,” Mark told the cameras. “She’s someone I think can keep up with me, someone that will get me outside of my normal routine — and I’ll probably live more of my life because of her.”
And Lindsey in turn called Mark a “very genuine and kind” man.
Mark explained how he’s dated very outgoing women in the past but never saw a softer or loving side of them, and so he was optimistic this situation with Lindsey would be different.
