Chicago PD – My Eye, My Call – Review : Trust Your Gut

We have a new addition to the intelligence team. Obviously, it doesn’t shock me in the least bit since Atwater’s position had to be filled sooner or later. Not that I really know if this is the right move or not.
I absolutely loved the camera movements and the way this episode was shot; it really put us in Donovan’s head.
I do really like Donovan as a character; it was nice to spend a large chunk of this episode getting to know him. It was clear from the start of the episode that he was going to be a part of intelligence by the end of the episode, which meant that I wanted to pay close attention to who this new addition is.
I don’t think he is like anyone else that we have seen in the intelligence unit before, and I really like the representation of possible ADHD on tv.
He and Ruzek seem like they could get on well, even though by the end of the episode we learn that he has a lot of experience as a police officer. I think he could be a good person for Ruzek to take under his wing in the unit. We’ve just lost the Atwater/Ruzek partnership, so it would be great if we could get to see a different connection between these two.
The episode title being probably the most poignant words in the episode was so cool. Voight can’t help but want people on his team that are willing to jump straight in if they think that is what they should do. Every single person on the team is very impulsive. Part of me wonders if it was a little test telling him not to go into the house.
The whole way through this episode, I was convinced that Watts would be a good addition to the team; his instincts are great, he catches everything, and has great people skills. I was with him right up until he stared down at the kid and asked himself why he couldn’t talk them down.
Then he had me back on his side when we found out that his time in Durham is sealed and he legally can’t talk about it.

It’s definitely going to be a wait and see before I make up my mind on whether he is good in intelligence or not; I am sure it will be a flip-flop of feelings about him like this episode has been.

I am really looking forward to seeing how the team adapts to their new member.
