CIA – Radio Active – Review : There Is No Such Thing As A Safe Place

Season two of CIA has started out incredibly strong. We are starting to dig a little bit deeper into both Colin and Bill, and it makes it all the more enjoyable to watch.

Honestly, this whole episode I was so invested in the way that Colin was behaving, wanting the pictures taken down and the body to be covered up. It then made all the more sense why he had such a good connection with Annie throughout the episode.

The camera work for the scenes when she was leaving the apartment was so interesting. It really put you in her frame of mind whilst watching it. It also made it all the more suspenseful when the guy with the gun came into her view and the wide shot of Colin trying to protect her.

I really liked that we got an actually genuine Colin moment. We have had a few more of those recently, which is no doubt down to knowing what really happened with Toni. In an odd way, it seems to have given him a bit of closure but more pain.

You couldn’t help feeling bad for him throughout this episode. I felt even worse for him when Toni was at his door. You could tell that he didn’t want to be around her because it’s the woman he loved, and he doesn’t know how to stay away from her, evident by the ending of this episode. I really hope that Toni doesn’t end up hurting Colin even more than she already has, but my hopes are not high for that.

Watching Bill this episode was a mix of emotions. At moments, he seemed like his old self with witty humour and dry responses to Colin, but other times, especially that last scene, you could tell how much is on his shoulders.

I think you end up feeling bad for both main characters through this episode. Neither of them is having a very good time, but at least this time they do seem to be leaning on each other a bit more, which is really nice to see. I hope we get to see more of that and more of them letting each other into what is going on mentally for them, particularly because they are both struggling with very deep emotions.

My heart honestly broke for Bill when he admitted that he’s scared that he might be a late-blooming sociopath. It’s like you want to scream at the tv and say that he isn’t, but at the same time, you can’t help but agree that he is no longer the straight and narrow Bill that we met at the start of the show.

I think watching Colin and Bill’s feelings about their respective situations is going to be some of the most interesting television that is currently on. How much will the pair change from who we first met?
