Sullivan’s Crossing – We Can Work It Out

I really loved this penultimate episode of the season, I feel like it tied a nice bow on Maggie and Liam’s past and also allowed there to be a possible future with Cal and Maggie.

Maggie and Liam have had a very complicated relationship since he first showed up at the start of the season and I think this was the first time that we actually got to see Maggie and Liam spend some actual time together that was solely focussed on each other. I think that is why it made it the perfect point for Maggie to realise that she was never really in love with Liam.

The letter that Maggie wrote to Liam that Cal found last season was the real Maggie knowing she was a different person when she was with Liam, but now was the first time she genuinely mentally acknowledged it since he arrived at the crossing. I do feel sorry for Liam because he seemed genuinely crushed, he really needed that last moment when he was asking for reassurance that what they had was real.

I honestly don’t know if there can be a future with Cal and Maggie after this episode. When she was in the hospital it really looked like he might be open to getting back with her but the moment Liam showed up all of that went out the window. Even more so at the end of the episode when he really didn’t want to talk to her about the situation at all and just wanted the stuff out of the cabin. I really do hope that in the last episode they are able to get closer to a reconciliation.

Sydney and Amir genuinely no longer know how to be just friends, almost every single one of their interactions is full of tension and chemistry. I actually think that Rob trying to get in their way makes them want each other more, their connection is undeniable and at some point their tension is going to boil over.

I liked the juxtaposition of Cal and Chris, obviously we only hear what Chris feels from what Sedona says but Chris was able to start talking to Sedona even if it didn’t end in them being back together she was just happy to be heard out, and then you have Cal who isn’t willing to take in anything that Maggie is saying despite her speech about only ever being in love with Cal and no one else.

I’m so glad that Frank decided to give the land back to the Mi’kmaq community, I always like it when we get to see Frank and Edna’s heritage. You can see how they have created such a great community at the crossing.

I am very intrigued to see how this season will end, we still don’t know what the result of Ben being arrested is and hopefully we get to see more of Maggie and Cal slowly working towards getting back together.
