Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki to Headline Walker, Texas Ranger Reboot

Spoilers

Supernatural may be gearing up to conclude, but one of its leading stars has already lined up a new TV role.

Deadline is reporting that Jared Padalecki will star in and executive-produce a reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger.

According to the outlet, the potential series would follow Cordell Walker (Padalecki), “a man finding his way back to his family while investigating crime in the state’s most elite unit.”

“[The] broken widower and father of two returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years for a high profile case — only to discover that there’s even more work to be done at home.”

Walker will be getting a new partner in similar vein to the 1990s series which starred Chuck Norris.

But the new partner in this new iteration will be one of the only women in Texas Rangers’ history.

The project was penned by Anna Fricke (Valor), who will exec-produce along side Padalecki, and Dan Lin (Lethal Weapon.)

CBS TV Studios is behind the series, with The CW emerging as a likely home for the potential reboot.

But don’t rule CBS out or even CBS All Access. The project is still in very early development, so it could land anywhere.

However, having Padalecki, an in-demand actor is a big positive for the show to get a pilot order and beyond.

Padalecki is coming off a 15-season stint on Supernatural. He and co-stars Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins confirmed the show’s imminent conclusion earlier this year.

As things stand, the fifteenth and final season is slated to premiere Thursday, October 10.

However, the show still has a while to go in terms of production. It will likely wrap up for good in early 2020.
