Honestly, I thought Ted Lasso Season 3 was the end of one of my favorite TV series.
I was stunned when the stars aligned to make Ted Lasso Season 4 a reality, and I’m even more shocked that the first footage looks good.
By the time the Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 12 aired, it had deviated too much from what made the show a success.
It embraced longer episodes and became one of the most self-indulgent shows on television.
There were flashes of brilliance, but the writing had pushed much of the storylines into a corner.
Ted Lasso Season 4 serves as a soft reboot, with Ted returning to Richmond to take on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team.
“Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would,” Apple TV‘s official description reads.
The first three seasons focused on Ted’s struggle to turn AFC Richmond from a laughing stock into something else.
Now, he’s back, and it looks like years have passed. One of Ted’s biggest reasons for leaving the U.K. in the first place was to help co-parent his son, Henry.
Ted Lasso Season 4 Promises a Revamp
It was proving difficult to do that with an ocean between them, so it was one of those things where Ted was forced to make a sacrifice, but it was something that would have helped raise his son.
Having Ted coaching a women’s football team on Ted Lasso Season 4 promises a change of pace, but those shipping Ted and Rebecca should be prepared for disappointment.
Rebecca is seen cozying up to Matthijs in the teaser trailer. Matthijs was introduced on Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 6, after Rebecca fell into the canal.
They had a strong connection, and it sure looks like that has manifested into something else in the years since they met.
As for Keeley and Roy, it’s hard to tell where their relationship is.
They’ve been off and on for years, and it doesn’t look like they’ve reached a resolution.
They were in an ambiguous state, not wanting to put a label on anything, which makes sense given the hurdles they faced as a couple.
Maybe the reduced pressure of not labeling their relationship will allow them still to be an item in Ted Lasso Season 4.

Apple TV+ has confirmed that Ted Lasso Season 4 will premiere on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, with one episode, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through October 7.
Truthfully, I can’t wait to see how the next chapter plays out because the first look is very intriguing.
