I’ll never tire of The Real Housewives universe. Every time I say I’m out, a cheating scandal or some other chaos pulls me straight back in.
But after 20 years of the sprawling franchise, I expected Bravo to really go big to celebrate one of reality TV’s biggest juggernauts.
So when I first heard about The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th, I was curious and slightly wary about how they’d manage to do all the cities justice.

With just seven Housewives representing the wider universe, it already felt like a tall order.
And now that the trailer has dropped, I am not convinced this is the strongest way to mark the milestone.
Look, I get what Bravo is trying to do here. But something about it feels off.
The first look at the limited series spinoff leans heavily on recreating classic Housewives moments, which might have worked if The Real Housewives had already wrapped up entirely.

As it stands, it just feels redundant. If I want to rewatch iconic scenes, I can open Peacock and do that anytime.
What we see in the trailer also does little to shake the feeling that things are being reenacted rather than unfolding naturally. And that is never a great look for reality TV.
Has Bravo Made a Mistake With this Celebration of The Real Housewives?
There is a brief spark of drama, but even that feels oddly staged, like it is happening because it is expected to happen rather than because it actually would.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey is represented by Teresa Giudice, who clashes with Heather Gay over Lisa Barlow.

And while that sounds like classic Housewives chaos, it plays more like a forced crossover moment than a genuine feud.
If Teresa had spent more time watching The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, she would know Heather and Lisa’s dynamic does not really break down into clean sides in the first place.
That is part of the issue. When reality TV starts feeling rehearsed, it loses its bite. And if this trailer is anything to go by, that might be the direction this special is heading.
On paper, bringing together a larger pool of Housewives alums should have been a slam dunk. But in practice, it feels like the focus might be in the wrong place.

The only real standout is NeNe Leakes’ return. NeNe helped define The Real Housewives of Atlanta at its peak, and the franchise has not quite reached those heights since.
Given her history with NBCUniversal, I never really expected to see her back in this world again. So even a cameo feels significant.
Honestly, it makes me wonder why she is not positioned more centrally as the face of Atlanta’s legacy, especially when current cast dynamics have not quite filled that gap.
Porsha Williams is a strong presence in her own right, particularly given her recent reality TV run and her stint on The Traitors, but NeNe is the name that still carries that era.

We have only seen a few minutes of footage, so it is too early to judge fully. But as it stands, this does not quite achieve the celebratory tone it aims for.
I appreciate Bravo trying to do something ambitious for the anniversary.
I cannot shake the feeling that they have polished this too much and, in doing so, risked sanding off everything that made The Real Housewives worth watching in the first place.
Here’s the trailer. Feast your eyes on it!
