Whenever Ormewood and Will team up, it’s an adrenaline-pumping, entertaining episode—throwing Seth into the mix added to the fun.
We often talk about the fierce females on Will Trent, but we would never want to forget the talented men.
Will, Ormewood, and Seth brought their A-game as they tackled a criminal in the hospital, while an angry mother held everyone hostage until the doctors treated her son.
The series always excels when the entire team works together, and surprisingly, two cases were connected on Will Trent Season 4 Episode 14 when the APD realized their gunshot victim was lying in the hospital.
I loved how Ormewood thought quickly to get a message to Angie and Will on how the cases were connected and that the shooter could be disguised inside.
Nothing could top the beatdown the guys gave O’Cyrus in the elevator. Ormewood has always been strong, but Will and Seth have got some moves, too.
Not Being Heard Made a Mother Desperate
I loved how Will and Nico, and Angie all ended up at the hospital for mundane reasons. They were the perfect trio to keep people calm.
It’s imperative to listen to mothers. They’re the people who know their children best. That doctor acted arrogantly and annoyingly, thinking he could treat that mom like a pesky fly and she’d go away.
No, moms would do anything for their kids, even if it puts themselves in danger. I don’t totally blame her for waving that gun around.
She wasn’t being heard, and it was the only way people took her seriously.
Faith understood desperation, having a son too, and she and Will worked hard to get her seizure medication to help her son.
This was one of the first times we’ve seen Seth (Scott Foley) handle this high-intensity pressure, and he thrived.
He wanted to keep everyone safe, including her son, Kevin, and actually paid attention to her. He and Will actually had their own language to keep things in check.
I Loved How Will Trent would let Ormewood and Franklin Ask Others for Help
Witnesses can be helpful, but we often don’t think about blind ones. Mac offered plenty of tips for the price of a sandwich.
He told them about O’Cyrus running the neighborhood and how he left that gaming system in the grass for evidence to remind everyone not to mess with him.
More likely to bait his next target. It sucked that he’d shoot an innocent kid.
We often complain that cops don’t ask their children for help with technology, so I was thrilled when Ormewood asked Max about that video game system.
It was hilarious that Max found Kevin’s contact info within seconds and charged his father money. That’s the fun way to use teenagers.
I hated that they learned that Kevin’s assailant was likely in the hospital, putting their friends in danger, and that would make Nickea even more upset.
Ormewood Thought Fast With So Many of Their Friends Inside
Faith was already worried about Will and Nico inside, but she freaked out when she heard that a very pregnant Angie was also inside with the hostage.
She already knew that desperate mothers and guns didn’t mix well, so she wasn’t sure how to get another message inside.
I loved Ormewood’s idea of ordering pizza.
It worked because everyone would be hungry by then, and Ormewood knew Angie’s current craving, which no one else would want, and could stick a message in it.
I felt bad for Will that he had to eat pickle-and-pineapple pizza as a decoy to receive the message, but sometimes that’s what you do.
I Love Action-Packed, Heart-Pounding Cases That Make You Feel
Did I think Nickea had a right to hold all the patients hostage? Absolutely not.
However, I understood why she felt desperate. She only cared about saving her son, and she still struggled with PTSD after serving in Kuwait and Iraq.
She strived to be a better mother and blamed herself for her son’s accident, since he went back to retrieve one of the video games she sold.
These are the types of cases I crave. I hate cases when the perpetrator is evil and deserves to be put away for life. That’s more like the shooter, O’Cyrus.
I prefer cases when you understand why someone committed a crime, and there is nothing more relatable than a desperate mother trying to save her son.
Even Will admired her for loving her son enough to fight for him. He never had that, so he respected her for that, even if he arrested her.
But he also recognized when the cannon in the waiting room and other people triggered Nickea because of her PTSD. I’ll admit I thought the Mayflower men with the cannon were suspicious, and they drove Angie nuts.
It didn’t always take much for her to reach for the trigger, and he understood that. He stepped in front of that gun, hoping that she wouldn’t shoot him, and that had built enough trust.
He wanted to support her and protect her son, and I loved that he was in her corner, the only way he knew how.
We Hated the Assailant, But the Elevator Fight Was the Best Scene
We don’t give Ormewood enough credit. He had the muscle and the brains. He figured out the orderly with Seth and Will was a mole, and was in fact O’ Cyrus, who ran the neighborhood and shot Kevin.
Ormewood was just as worried about his friends as he was that O’Cyrus would finish off that kid.
I appreciated that Will knew they were in danger and tried to negotiate with O’ Cyrus, offering himself in exchange for Kevin’s life.
Seth had never seen Will in action, and Will had learned some fighting skills from defending himself as a scrappy kid, but I loved how stealthily he took Seth’s stethoscope and beat O’Cyrus.
This fight must have been choreographed from the timing of the punches and jumps, and Seth’s perfect jabs.
I loved how Ormewood appeared on the eighth floor, just like the Incredible Hulk, ready to battle. That’s when the fun began, because while O’Cyrus was a prime jerk, watching the guys take him down was satisfying.
It was even funnier how exhausted they were after, and they collapsed on the floor.
The Hostage Situation Made Everyone Value Their Families
There’s nothing like a hostage situation to make you revalue your life, and almost everyone came out stronger on Will Trent.
We rarely ever see Ormewood embrace anyone, except maybe his children, but he and Faith hugged in relief once he helped to save the day.
Ormewood hates hospitals, but he never would have let anything happen to Angie, Will, or Nico. Those are his people.
I had hoped he might have revealed his feelings after all that, but he lost his nerve again. While I enjoy Ormewood with Joanne, she feels like a safe choice.
On the other hand, Angie now understood why her husband worried every time she went into the field.
We’re as relieved as she was that Seth only got nicked in the arm, and they now respect their jobs even more.
Will has lost so many people, which has made him more obsessed with finding his uncle.
I love that he’s no longer afraid to tell those who care about them, but I fear that if Will gets reckless in his search, someone could get hurt.
