7 Little Johnstons: Fans Call Out Amber Johnston And Trent Johnston For Strict Parenting
As much as 7 Little Johnstons fans love watching the TLC show, and as much as viewers are excited for the new season, viewers have had a bone to pick with both Amber Johnston and Trent Johnston for some time. They are set in their ways when it comes to their traditional beliefs, and this often clashes with their adult children.
That traditional way of life certainly works for Amber and Trent, as they have been married for decades. However, when you raise so many kids to adulthood, not everything is going to be one size fits all. As fans see in current 7 Little Johnstons episodes, there are plenty of moments of friction.
TLC Fans Accuse Amber And Trent Of Playing Favorites
Trent and Amber, for the most part, try to instill old-fashioned viewpoints into their children. Just recently, Trent Johnston showed Jonah Johnston and Alex Johnston the art of a handwritten letter. In a world of texting, Snapchat, and video chatting, Trent wanted to teach his sons that it’s still important to remember the little details, as well as the effort it takes to craft a handwritten letter versus sending a text message or an email.
Examples like this make things seem not as bad. However, the way a lot of fans see it, some of the values and judgments that Amber and Trent have can be a little outdated at times. It’s one thing to hold to your traditional belief systems, but, it’s another thing entirely to get completely left behind with the changing times.
Another thing 7 Little Johnstons fans call out is the inconsistency. Amber Johnston can often come down harshly on her daughter Anna, while on the other hand babying Alex Johnston. Viewers have even accused Amber of competing with Anna in the past. So, at least the way fans see it, Amber and Trent are not always consistent across the board.

In recent scenes, Amber Johnston tried to get Liz to allow Jonah to move into her place with Brice Bolden moved out. It’s little things like this that many watchers see as underhanded, perhaps even a little malicious on Amber’s part.
Recently, 7 Little Johnstons followers went in on Amber, and they didn’t hold back.
- One commenter said: “I strongly dislike Amber now. As the seasons go on, her treatment of certain kids gets worse and worse. That’s my main issue with her, is how she treats some of her children vs others.”
- Another commenter chimed in, saying: “I was legit cheering on my couch when Jonah’s gf dared to question the ‘bit**’ … oops I meant to say Ms. Perfect Amber. Definitely an iconic moment in this series.”
