When you think procedurals, chances are you think of one of Dick Wolf’s very successful franchises, each consisting of three shows airing back-to-back-to-back and taking up primetime television one night a week. CBS has the FBIs, with Most Wanted and International joining the original. NBC has One Chicago, consisting of Fire, P.D., and Med, as well as Law & Order, with the original and SVU both in 20+ seasons and Organized Crime just a few years old.
And, thanks to crossovers, all of these shows are connected: The individual franchises have each had three-show events. SVU has worked with One Chicago. Thanks to a one-episode appearance from a P.D. star, FBI has been brought into the fold.
Below, we’ve taken on the challenge of ranking those nine shows, all of which are returning for the 2023-2024 season.
