An angry female staffer at CNN is quitting unless Don Lemon is fired. The popular anchor has come under fire in recent months for some sexist remarks he’s made. However, it was his latest move that has staffers and even fans ready to jump ship unless he is gone for good. Read on for more details.
Angry Female CNN Staff Quitting Unless Don Lemon Is Fired
Don Lemon has had a lot of changes recently. He left his self-titled nightly show for a co-hosting spot on CNN This Morning. There, Lemon sits beside Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins but things have not been going so well. Recently, Nikki Haley announced her bid for the presidency. However, Don Lemon had some choice words for the 51-year-old regarding her age. This did not go over well when he noted that women in her age bracket are past their prime. Lemon said this, per The New York Times: “A woman is considered to be in her prime in her 20s and 30s and maybe 40s.”
Co-host Poppy Harlow then questioned what he meant by this but, after keeping on going, he simply said “look it up.” According to Meaww, female staffers are livid with Lemon and are threatening to quit unless he is fired. A source had this to say: “If Don doesn’t go, others have threatened to quit. People are hurt by his actions and are not going to let this go. It is like every woman over 50 in America has taken this as a personal insult. The female staffers at CNN definitely have. He needs to make his vacation a permanent one.”
It seems that he has made it “impossible” for the women who work at CNN to do their jobs properly. Not only are the female staffers angry with what has transpired but fans of the network are also fuming, as well. They have called Lemon “tone deaf” for what he has said. All of this drama stemmed from something Nikki Haley had said. She wanted legislators 75+ to take competency tests. That was when Don jumped in with the “prime” comments and it went to the next level.
What Is He Doing Now?
Don Lemon was on leave from CNN This Morning. He was set to return Monday, February 20th but that did not happen. Though Lemon tweeted an apology, it seems that it will take a lot more than that to get himself out of the hole he is in. He was scheduled to return Wednesday, February 22nd but does have some training to undergo in order to continue. Whether or not this will suffice is yet to be seen.
