Scott Bryce, who was best known for portraying Craig Montgomery on As the World Turns, has died at the age of 68. The news was confirmed by his friend Lucie Arnaz in a now-deleted Facebook post, which was captured and shared on Michael Fairman’s website.
“A wonderful actor, a beautiful man and a terrific husband and father, Scott Bryce, passed tonight,” Arnaz wrote. “I am going to miss his eyes, his smile, his wit, his brain, his intelligence, his talent, his bravery, his laugh and his hugs. Dearest Jodi, dear Jackson, he’s watching over you now from a place of pure joy and will always be your guide. But I hate these goodbyes. Rest in peace you marvelous, magnificent man.”
Bryce was diagnosed with stage 3 esphogeal and stomach cancer in 2025. After sharing news of his diagnosis, Bryce later revealed he had undergone treatment and was “on the mend.” Arnaz reportedly wrote in the comments section of her Facebook post that the cancer had since returned, per Fairman.
Soap operas run in Bryce’s family, as his father, Ed Bryce, was known for his role as Bill Bauer on Guiding Light. Bryce debuted on As the World Turns in 1982 and starred on the show until 1991. He then returned from 1993 to 1994 and again from 2007 to 2008. The actor received Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 1986 and 1987.
Additionally, Bryce starred on episodes of Blue Bloods, Homeland, 30 Rock,One Life to Live, Sex and the City, The Golden Girls, and more. His most recent acting role was on an episode of The Blacklist in 2021.
Bryce married wife Jodi Stevens in 2003 and they share one son named Jackson. In October 2025, Stevens paid tribute to her husband with an Instagram post about their wedding anniversary.
