Julie Chen Moonves has seen a number of contestants compete and win on Big Brother, having been part of the show since the start. Recently, she admitted that she hadn’t always been the nicest to one contestant. Notably, this came out right before the show announced its latest winner.
Julie Chen Moonves Has Been Part Of Big Brother Since Its 2000 Debut
Julie first came to prominence through her work on various CBS programs. These include serving as a co-anchor on the Early Show from 2002 to 2010 and moderating The Talk from 2010 to 2018.
However, for many, Julie is best known as the presenter of the U.S. version of Big Brother. She has been part of the show since its debut back in 2000.

Earlier this month, viewers saw Season 28 of the show crown a winner. The triumphant houseguest was Rick Devens, who also earned the title of “America’s Favorite Houseguest.” Taylor Brown was the season’s runner-up.
Devens isn’t a novice to reality television. Audiences previously saw him on Survivor: Edge of Extinction and Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans.
Julie Shared Her Comments Before Big Brother Crowned Its Season 28 Winner
Shortly before his big win on Big Brother, Chen Moonves talked about her time with the contestants on the show with Entertainment Weekly. At the time, she mused that she originally wasn’t too happy to see Survivor alumni appear on Big Brother. As she noted, “I was like, ‘This here is Big Brother. This is the Big Brother house here, buddy.’”
Still, when asked about his chances, Julie shared, “I feel good. Because I have acknowledged that I was being a jerk. And I was letting my own foolish ego get in the way. I was like, ‘Why are you rooting against this dude?’ And it was because… Well, there were a few reasons.”
However, Julie admitted that Devens eventually grew on her. She shared, “Then, well, what do you know? Expect the unexpected. I end up loving the guy. He wins competition after competition. He wins competitions even when he’s trying to throw a competition, and he wins competitions on live TV when he doesn’t even know his game is on the line.”
Chen Moonves continued, “Like, he knows it, but I don’t think he knew Angela and Dee were going to cut him loose. He was a goner. I had my Rick Devens questions ready, you know? And then I was like, ‘All right, pay attention.’ So, God humbled me and I like the guy now. And if he wins, he deserves it.” Of course, Julie’s musing would ultimately be proven right.
