It’s the birthday luck that led to Bri Pomeroy winning a car on The Price Is Right. Host Drew Carey said that she had a “lucky draw” after picking the right card on Card Game.
Pomeroy won the fifth item up for bid on May 28. Her win was posted to the game show‘s Instagram page on July 7. “A lucky draw for a lucky lady! #PriceIsRight,” the post was captioned.
She had the highest bid of $2,400 for a four-night trip to Arizona, complete with hotel, daily brunch, one dinner, spa treatment for two, and a $200 poolside food/drink credit. The actual retail price was $4,671, so she won the trip and got to come to the stage to play another game. Pomeroy played Card Game for a 2025 Kia K4 LX.
Card Game is a standard 52-card game played for a new car. It also contains a special deck to determine how close the contestant must come to the car’s actual price without going over to win it.
The game show contestant first draws a card to figure out how much of a range they have for guessing the price. They are then given an opening bid. They draw cards from the deck to increase the contestant’s bid. Number cards add the face value multiplied by $100 to the bid, while face cards (Jack, Queen, King), like tens, are worth $1,000 each. Aces are wild, allowing them to add any value they want.
When the contestant decides to stop, an updated range is given. For example, with a $1,000 range card and a $20,000 bid, the range would be $20,000 and $21,000. If the car falls within that price, the contestant wins it.
Pomeroy’s starting price was $15,000. The target range was $5,000. She first drew a four, pushing the price to $15,400. Then, The Price Is Right contestant pulled a five and a nine, making the car $16,800.
Pomeroy pulled two Kings, a four, and a Queen, giving her a price of $20,200. She had to get between that and $25,200, so she decided to stop there.
The price of the car was $23,165, so she won it. Pomeroy jumped up and down and screamed as host Drew Carey screamed, “Yes!”
“Nice job! That was a lucky draw,” he said. “Happy birthday!”
Since Pomeroy spun a .65 on the wheel and her opponents spun a .70, she did not advance to the Showcase. The other two contestants had to spin again, though.
“She did GREAT! Awesome win,” an Instagram user said.
“Cool birthday gift. Well done!” another wrote.
“Great pull, Bri!” a third added.
“She picked a very good $5K Card and a Car for her Birthday,” one last fan said.
The new season of The Price Is Right won’t return until September. Reruns are still airing on CBS throughout the summer. Previous episodes of Season 54 can be watched on Paramount+.
