Sterling Point may be a small (fictional) island in the Muskoka Lakes region, but it has quite a few noteworthy locations. The cast of Prime Video’s teen breakout hit Sterling Point took us behind the scenes and broke down each spot, from the Sterling Point Marina to Oona (Bo Bragason) and Maple’s (Mabel Strachan) houseboat to — of course — Gordon’s cottage.
When Annie (Ella Rubin) first arrives at the Canadian island her late grandfather left her, she explores his cottage. “I remember the first time we walked in there, and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh.’ I don’t know what I was picturing, but it was… especially the actual house in Muskoka, it was beautiful,” Amélie Hoeferle, who plays Ramona, told TV Insider in a joint interview with her castmates.
She added, “And the set design was just… with all the acorns? Those were actually there the entire time. Yeah, we were tripping. Like, actually tripping.”
Rubin explained that they filmed the scenes in the interior of Gordon’s cottage on a sound stage in Toronto, while the exterior shots and everything by the water were shot on location in Muskoka. Seeing Annie and Ramona’s shared room, in particular, Rubin felt really informed their characters. (“We fell asleep in those beds for real,” Hoeferle added.)

It was an emotional experience, seeing it in the flesh. “You imagine this place in your head where so much of the show is going to be, and then you see it, and it’s like… It like filled in so many gaps for me of what we were doing and the coziness, and it felt like a real place,” Rubin said. “I felt like Gordon had become a real person in my mind.”
