The vision Chase and Sarah Morrill had for their Waters Run Bed & Breakfast was on the verge of being realized on Maine Cabin Masters: All Inn. All the progress was chronicled for the HGTV and Magnolia Network spinoff with the season finale on August 23 providing the grand reveal. The bathrooms, bedrooms, library, dining rooms, additional cabins, and one of the kitchens were completed. However, more work needed to be done for the crew to make the Memorial Day soft opening in a month’s time.
Most of the inside was finished, minus the commercial kitchen still in process. This left the outside spaces including painting , window trim, removing shutters, replacing the front deck for wheelchair access and creating a more pronounced entrance. Also, on the list was installing a septic tank for the main building, erecting the road sign, and reimagine the garden patio. From there, the team had to clear the tools and stage the horse barn transformed into a multipurpose venue space.

The good news was Chase and Sarah were running on time and within a budget of around $800,000. In order to get to the finish line, it became a matter of divide and conquer. Chase and his brother-in-law Ryan Eldridge turned their attention to the deck. They experienced some challenges with the doors fitting flush, as well as some rot. The commercial properties all have to open out due to fire code. The septic tank brought its own issue with the ground water in the location. Crew members had to pump water out in order to backfill and then beautify through landscaping.

Full of water wrapping up the septic the ground water is an issue at the location. They are pumping water into the trench. The water levels are slowing everything down. Water drained. Backfill and then put in some backfill. Overall greenspaces including the garden patio would have chosen plants from a local nursery. Sarah was happy to see blueberry shrub and rose bushes as part of the arrangements. She brought the old metal furniture back to life for the patio.
Meanwhile, Ashley teamed up with Jared “Jedi” Baker to make a picket fence out of cedar. They stained each piece before installation. However, rain came in to delay the process a bit. One obstacle they ran into was the ground being sloped where Chas wanted them to be equal on top. In the commercial kitchen, the final pieces of the puzzle were being filled as the crew sealed the wall with new cooking and cleaning equipment. It was coming down to the wire. Sarah got worried, but trusted the process and leaned in on her confidence in the team.
The sign needed blocks to bring the posts together. This made it even more real as the barn staging became fully realized. The decor showed the potential of the space as a viable wedding venue. And with that friends and family came for the soft opening.
When asked by a producer what Chase and Sarah learned about each other through the process, Chase responded, “My wife has expensive taste.” Sarah felt she actually scaled back. The couple opened up about working double shifts and putting so much time and energy into their biggest project. They were grateful for the team that helped them out along the way.
Now the real work begins: welcoming guests and bringing in business.
