Joy-Anna Duggar Opens Up About Grieving Stillborn Daughter
Joy-Anna Duggar shares three children with her husband: sons Gideon, 8, and Gunner, 2, and daughter Evelyn, 6. Born in 2020, Evelyn is the couple’s rainbow baby. Joy-Anna Duggar suffered a heartbreaking stillbirth in 2019 at 20 weeks. They named their late daughter Annabell.
Joy-Anna Duggar’s sister, Jinger, suffered a miscarriage that same year and welcomed a rainbow baby in 2020. They recently discussed the heartbreaking losses on Jinger Duggar’s podcast.
“That was extremely hard. I felt like, at first, I was like, ‘I’m going to be strong and I’m going to push through this. ‘But after the dust settled and, like, a new normal had to start happening, it was really hard,” Joy-Anna Duggar recalled about the loss.

It’s been a tough year for the Duggar family. Joseph Duggar was arrested in March for allegedly molesting a young girl while on vacation in 2020. He returns to court on that case later this month. The shocking news threw the family back in the news, four years after Josh Duggar was sentenced to 12 years in prison for possessing child pornography.
Joy-Anna and Jinger Duggar discussed how their brother’s arrest affected them. They both admitted it’s been difficult for them. But Joy-Anna is trying to focus on what’s coming next. She was met with congratulations and well-wishes after announcing her pregnancy on social media.
She thanked fans and explained why she took so long to announce this pregnancy. “Thank you all so much for the love on our pregnancy announcement. We are over the moon and cannot wait,” she wrote. “It’s def been challenging keeping it under wraps b/c I feel like, with each pregnancy, I show sooner. But, having a lil time for us to soak this in quietly as a family has been so special.”
In another post, Joy-Anna Duggar revealed that other children had been praying for a brother or sister. But she told them she doesn’t know yet if the baby is a boy or a girl. She hasn’t really shared many details about the pregnancy, including how far along she is or the baby’s due date.
