What To Know
- David Boreanaz said he would be open to a potential Bones reunion to see where the characters are now.
- He acknowledged that coordinating a reunion would be ‘tricky’ due to the busy schedules of the original cast.
- Boreanaz emphasized his fondness for the show and his co-stars, particularly Emily Deschanel.
It’s been almost 10 years since Bones aired its final episode, but its lead star, David Boreanaz, hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a reunion somewhere down the line.
In a new interview with ScreenRant, Boreanaz opened up about the hit police procedural drama, which aired for 12 seasons on Fox from 2005 to 2017. The actor, who played Special Agent Seeley Booth alongside Emily Deschanel‘s Temperance “Bones” Brennan, said he is open to the idea of revisiting the show.
“I never know with a show like that,” he told the outlet. “What’s great about Bones is you can go in and out. I always said that was the one show that I would definitely revisit, as far as going back, because it would be going back and seeing where these characters are now.”
However, Boreanaz admitted that “getting everybody involved would be tricky,” especially with their different schedules. “I love Art Hansen, the creator, and I talk to him a lot,” he added. “So, never say never.”

In addition to Boreanaz and Deschanel, Bones also starred Michaela Conlin as Angela Montenegro, Eric Millegan as Dr. Zack Addy, T. J. Thyne as Jack Hodgins, Tamara Taylor as Camille Saroyan, John Francis Daley as Lance Sweets, John Boyd as James Aubrey, and more.
The Angel alum said that many of the cast members are “very busy with other projects right now,” but reiterated that Bones “holds a special place in my heart.”
“I love that show, and I love that character. So, who knows? We’ll see,” he continued. “I’ve always been that type of worker. ‘What am I working on now? What’s the process?’ I don’t look too far ahead, I never have, and I never look back.”
Boreanaz confessed that Deschanel makes fun of him for that latter point. “She’s like, ‘David, you never like reunions,’” he recalled. “There’s a reason. I just don’t go back, and I stay really present. We always had this running joke about that for some reason. I think of Emily in regards to that all the time, because the two of us had such a great working relationship, and I adore her.”
