Days of Our Lives is recasting a child star on the popular daytime soap opera. The soap is replacing the actor who plays Tate Black. The new actor is a face that some fans might remember from both a Disney and a CW show. Meanwhile, the former actor is leaving for a very good reason.
Here is who is playing the new Tate Black on Days of Our Lives and why the change was made.
Days Of Our Lives Recasts Tate Black
Days of Our Lives is recasting the character of Tate Black. Jamie Martin Mann has only played Tate since 2023. Before he took over the role, the character was played by four sets of twins, debuting on the show in 2015. It was a wild storyline when Theresa Donovan ended up pregnant with Brady Black’s child, but Kristen DiMera had Theresa kidnapped and had the embryo transferred into her body, where she delivered the baby – Christopher.
Brady and Theresa ended up getting the baby back after Kristen was presumed to have died. They renamed the baby, Tate Donovan Black. However, Theresa left Salem and Brady raised Tate with Nicole Walker, who had a daughter of her own in Holly Jones. Soon, Theresa sued for full custody from Brady and won, taking Tate to California with her. In 2023, Tate returned and was now a teenager, played by Mann.
However, Mann’s turn as playing Tate only lasted for a year. Days of Our Lives has now announced that Leo Howard will replace Mann in the role. While Howard is 26, he will play Tate as a 17-year-old teenager. This will be Howard’s first soap opera role.
The Reason For The Days Of Our Lives Change
Jamie Martin Mann chose to leave Days of Our Lives for a very good reason. After one year on the show, Mann plans to go to college. However, his replacement has a history of television work, and he might be a familiar face to many fans.
Leo’s first role of his career came on an episode of Monkin 2005. He also got a big-time movie role when he played a Young Snake Eyes in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra in 2009. His big break came on the Disney Channel, where he first appeared in Zeke and Luther before getting his own show called Kickin’ It, where he played Jack Brewer.
In 2019, Leo picked up a new brand of fans when he picked up a role in The CW series Legacies, where he played Ethan Machado, a human who attended Mystic Falls High School before he became a supernatural being and enrolled at the Salvatore Boarding School.
Leo said the reason he auditioned for the role was because his grandmother was a huge Days of Our Lives fan and his mother was a General Hospital fan. When describing Tate, Leo said, “He’s not quite an adult but he’s not a kid. He has had kind of a tumultuous childhood in life with both of his parents and in and out of rehab and a lot of money around, which sometimes doesn’t cause people to do the best things.”
