She made the shocking move after she realized there was a huge misunderstanding regarding the rules. Keep reading below to find out why.
Days of Our Lives Victoria Grace Pulled Out From Emmy Race
Victoria Grace managed to win over fans this year for her portrayal of Wendy Shin. The actress also played the character on the Peacock spin-off show Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem. She was nominated for Outstanding Younger Performer in a Daytime Drama Series. However, her dreams of winning her first Daytime Emmy award will have to be put on hold after there was a misunderstanding over the rules.
According to Deadline, Victoria Grace didn’t realize that she had to be under the age of 18 to be nominated for Outstanding Younger Performer. The publication states that an actor can not be older than 18 on at least January 1, 2022. Victoria is much older than that as she turned 21 back in 2021.
Victoria shared a statement regarding the matter on her Instagram page. She wrote, “I was honored to be nominated for a Daytime Emmy and to be recognized by the Academy. Unfortunately, there was a huge misunderstanding across the board regarding the rules for this year’s category.” Victoria went on to say that while she feels very heartbroken, she wants to be fair to her fellow nominees. That’s why she decided to rescind her nomination.
Days of Our Lives: Victoria Grace Feels Heartbroken
The character Wendy Shin is the younger sister of Li Shin, who works for Dimera Enterprises in Alaska. Victoria recently told Soap Opera Digest that landing a role on Days of Our Lives has certainly changed her life, and especially as an Asian-American actress. She said that this is a huge step towards better and more diverse representation on the small screen. Victoria said, “I read The Hollywood Diversity Report for last year, and out of all of the lead women on TV less than four percent were Asian. That hit close to home.”
So far Victoria has not made any additional comments about the matter. However, there’s a good chance that she might try to submit her work for a Daytime Emmy next year.
