Dancing With The Stars judge Derek Hough shared some very alarming news with fans last week. After wrapping up a performance of his touring show, his wife Hayley Erbert became disoriented and needed immediate medical attention. She was quickly diagnosed with a cranial hematoma.
Hayley underwent a craniectomy, leaving many fans and loved ones concerned.

Derek Hough provides an update on Hayley’s condition
Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert are incredibly passionate about dance. When they canceled their ongoing tour, fans knew something incredibly serious happened.
Thankfully, it appears that Hayley is on the mend following her emergency surgery. Derek shared another update on Instagram, including a video of the pair walking together.
“As you all know, the past week has been a challenging journey for us due to a life-threatening event that suddenly came into our lives. It was a time filled with uncertainty and fear, going from living our dreams onstage, to a nightmare in an instant. But today, we are filled with hope and relief as we share with you an update,” Derek began his Instagram update.
“Hayley is doing well. Her recovery process has been nothing short of a miracle. She still has a ways to go with another surgery, hopefully in a few weeks, to insert a skull implant to replace the piece that was removed during the craniectomy. It will restore the skull to its natural shape and protect the brain from injury,” he continued.
The DWTS judge went on to thank her medical team and everyone who supported their family. The Washington Monument is visible in the video, revealing that Derek and Hayley haven’t been home since the night of the emergency surgery.
“While this isn’t the holiday season either of us envisioned, it’s one that we’re incredibly grateful to have. We look forward to cherishing these moments with a deeper appreciation for life and the people in it. We love you all 🙏🏼❤️”
