Eldridge Toney comforted Anna Cardwell as she passed away
In the days preceding Anna’s death, her family members heavily hinted that the end was near. Several family members including Mama June and Lauryn Efird posted depressingly cryptic social media updates.
The day after Anna passed away, they shared the news with the world. Now, her husband Eldridge Toney is shedding some more light on his dearly departed wife’s final moments.
“Everyone was crying and freaking out, because we all knew what was happening,” Eldridge told PEOPLE. “I did my best to be calm for her. I rubbed my hands through her hair, held her hand and told her it was going to be OK.”
He added that he held Anna’s hand as she took her final breath.
“The day before she passed, we had our talk and said our goodbyes,” Eldridge continued. “Her dying wish was for her girls to grow up knowing who their mother was. And I promised I would do right by the girls always. I will spend my life doing right by Anna and the girls.”
In addition to her husband, Anna leaves behind her two daughters, Kaitlyn Elizabeth and Kylee Madison. Fans’ thoughts are with the family during this tragic time.
The family invited the public to grieve the loss with them
Anna Cardwell’s funeral took place on December 13 near her home in Georgia. The services appeared to be open to the public. PEOPLE also mentioned the family invited them to cover the funeral. Although Anna’s funeral was not filmed for television, her battle with cancer allegedly was.
Although all families grieve differently, some fans have thought that Mama June is making a spectacle of the tragedy. Shortly after the funeral, she made a TikTok to update fans on the situation. Online, many fans have stated they think it’s a bit odd that Mama June is intent on communicating with the public while her family grieves Anna’s loss.
