Dillon is a local news journalist known for her work with Good Morning Memphis. She joined FOX13 Memphis back in 2019. Initially from California, she previously worked as a multimedia journalist in Louisiana.
Recently, Dillon made headlines across the country when she appeared to fall asleep during a recent broadcast. After a reporter cut to her, Dillon could be seen resting her chin in her hands with her eyes closed. As the moment cut to the commercial break, the moment soon proved viral online.
Recently, Dillon appeared on Today, where she explained what happened. As she shared, she was running low on sleep, only getting around two hours, due to spending the previous night taking care of her two children.
While on Today, Dillon explained, “The night before, my husband, he worked a double at BNSF Railway. I have a 2-year-old. I have an 8-month-old. And I was trying to get them down to sleep at eight o’clock, but my 8-month-old, she wasn’t having it.”
Dillon Shared That Many People Understood What She Was Going Through Online
The journalist shared that her youngest was currently teething. She shared, “I gave her some teething medicine, and nothing was working.” Time went by quickly as she tried to help her child. Suddenly, Dillon noticed, “All I have is a couple of hours of rest before I have to be up in the morning and be at work.”
Dillon revealed that she wasn’t aware that she had fallen asleep until “my meteorologist, Brittani Dubose, whispered my name from across the room.” She also claimed that no one intervened because her co-workers thought that she was just looking at her tablet. This caused her to joke, “Because who falls asleep in one minute, sitting up, in front of cameras?”
Dillon also confessed that she was horrified when she realized what happened. As she shared, “I opened my eyes, and it was cutting to the next shot, and I was like, ‘Oh my goodness. I can’t believe this just happened to me. I am mortified. I was pinching myself under the desk like, this has to be a nightmare. Like one of those work nightmares, because it’s not my life right now.”
While the moment went viral online, Dillon assured that many people came to her defense online, especially as they realized what had happened. She noted that “people understand what I’m going through as a mother” and emphasized the importance of telling “other parents that they’re “doing a great job,” too.
