TV Shows

RHOBH star Dorit Kemsley has settled the debt she owed to a closet organizer. She and the company, It’s a Lifestyle, were struggling to agree on how much Kemsley owed. Now, it appears it has all been resolved but what exactly happened? Keep reading for more details.

Dorit Kemsley Settles Debt To Closet Organizer

There is always a lawsuit in Beverly Hills or so it seems and now, Dorit Kemsley is in the middle of one. The fashion designer loves her clothing and is often mocked for taking too much time posing. She will hold up events simply to model whatever outfit she is wearing because she makes it an event. So, it would make perfect sense that Dorit would have a professional closet organizer to keep her ensembles perfectly organized. Unfortunately, it looks like she may have run into a payment situation when she employed It’s a Lifestyle.

According to Radar Online, Emma Josephson Carter owns It’s a Lifestyle. In February 2024, they filed a suit against Kemsley, alleging she owed the company $8,556.15. This was for reorganizing Dorit’s closet and stated this:

“[Kemsley] hired my services on more than one occasion. I have a signed contract agreeing to my services and terms of payment. She has not paid her invoices totaling the above amount for over 10 months. I’ve reached out to her, her assistant, and her accountant several times. All parties are aware and have acknowledged outstanding payments, but no payment has been made.”

Though a hearing was scheduled for Friday, March 22nd, 2024, it appears that Dorit Kemsley sent over money through a wire transfer. Emma Josephson Carter was waiting for the money to go through. However, Dorit had her own version of what went down. She explained she had paid Carter $13K for part one of the job but was holding back any more funds.

This was because Carter had wanted to move forth without Kemsley but she did not feel so great about this. Per Dorit:

“I paid the hefty sum of 13k for ‘phase one,’ which at the time [I] was even surprised by how much I was charged to simply get to a place where I could then go in and see what I wanted to keep and what I wanted to get rid of. I knew there was nothing more Emma could do without me being there but Emma was insisting there was, so I assumed I would have been pleasantly surprised. I never suspected that the money I paid for the work that had been done would be for naught as all the initial work that was done had been undone in phase 2.”

Endgame

Ultimately, it seemed that Dorit Kemsley was done with the company, and what Emma Josephson Carter was offering. She let Carter know she was not happy with how everything was going down but it seemed Kemsley was not being heard. Finally, she had her assistant tell Carter she was not satisfied with the state of her closet. In fact, she felt it was worse for the wear when all was said and done. The only reason Dorit paid what she did was simply because she did not care to go to court.

Do you agree with what Dorit is saying or is it all a bit much to handle over a closet? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
