And amid this sad time, Jim Bob Duggar and his kids failed to take the appropriate actions. Now, this act of disrespect has gone public, catching fans’ attention. How did the family snub a lost loved one? Keep reading for all of the details.

Who passed away?

In case you missed the news, the Duggars were hit with a death this past week. Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball reported that the police showed up at Jim Bob’s home early on Sunday morning. At the time, it was coded as a “follow-up investigation,” and no further details were revealed.

However, later on, it was revealed that the police had visited Jim Bob to break the news that his uncle Tommy Lester had passed away.

So far, the Duggars haven’t posted anything on social media about Tommy’s death. But fans were shocked to learn that Ben Seewald was initially scheduled to officiate the funeral. Ben is a pastor, so this part makes sense. But Katie Joy pointed out that Tommy was gay, which led to him being distanced from the Duggars.

The Duggar family seemingly disrespects a deceased relative.

On Friday, the day after Tommy’s funeral, The Sun reported that none of the Duggar family members were in attendance. According to the outlet, funeral director Phillip Menke officiated in place of Ben Seewald. It’s unclear what happened with Ben’s plans to officiate.

A source offered some insight into Tommy’s relationship with the Duggars prior to his death, explaining that they were distanced for decades.

The source added, “Nobody kept in touch with him at all. All the family knows is that he was gay and was married. He separated himself from the family when the oldest Duggar children were young.”

Though the Duggar family was distanced from Tommy and didn’t agree with him being homosexual, it may come as a shock that they wouldn’t pay their respects at his funeral.

You can see the photos from Tommy’s funeral here to see that the Duggar family didn’t appear to be in attendance.

So, do you think it was disrespectful of the Duggar family to skip Tommy Lester’s funeral, regardless of their values? Does it shock you that they weren’t in attendance? Sound off in the comments section below, and come back to TV Shows Ace for more news about Jim Bob, Michelle, and their 19 kids.
