‘DWTS’ Fans Demand Changes After Shocking Elimination

- Advertisment -

Landing at the top of the leaderboard on DWTS assures you’ll stay for another week. However, having the lowest score of the night doesn’t mean you’ll go home. The scores are combined with votes to tally the bottom three. Fans of the show demand major changes after a shocking elimination of a fan favorite couple in Week 3. Keep reading for all the details.

Judges, Viewers Shocked By ‘Yacht Rock’ Elimination

DWTS judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli haven’t come anywhere near giving any of the contestants a 10 out of 10. In fact, the scores are lower than usual this season, despite having several “ringers” with prior dance experience. Jenna Dewan, Harry Shum Jr. and Amber Glenn have been at the top of the leaderboard, or near it, in the first three weeks of competition.

Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night sidekick, Guillermo Rodriguez, has consistently been at the bottom of the leaderboard and up for elimination in all three weeks so far. However, viewers at home keep saving him, pushing him through to the next week.

Taylor Hanson & Britt Stewart and Jackson Olson & Emma Slater joined him in the bottom three during Tuesday’s show. Both couples scored 18 out of 30 compared to Guillermo Rodriguez’s 15 out of 30. But Taylor Hanson and his pro partner, Britt Stewart, were sent home.

What makes the elimination even more heartbreaking is that the “MMMBop” singer specifically requested Britt as his partner.

DWTS Fans Demand Changes After Season 35 Couple ‘Robbed’

Britt Stewart was promoted to full-time dancer in 2020 after spending four years in the DWTS troupe. However, her partners are often voted off early in the season. The furthest she made it was 5th place in Season 31 with her now-husband Daniel Durant.

She was rightfully upset about getting sent home early again. Some fans did call her out for seemingly shunning Guillermo Rodriguez in the aftermath of the elimination.

Viewers who watched the show in real time took to DWTS‘s official Instagram to blast the low scores from the judges.

  • “How did Connor get better scores than Taylor?? And hes only one ahead of Guierrmo?? Come on, these scores make no sense.”
  • “Taylor And Britt deserved better scores!”
  • “Underscored!!!”
  • “Come on, Derek!!! You said it was his best dance yet but gave a 6?!?!”
  • “jenna literally stumbled and got 7’s”
  • “As a first time viewer, these judges definitely have favorites and this d*mn thing is rigged.”
  • “Cannot believe they were sent home. ROBBED. taylor was improving and so many people enjoyed watching him.”
  • “BRING BACK JUDGES’ SAVE!!!!!!!!!”

The judges’ save was introduced in Season 28 after Bobby Bones’ controversial win the prior season. It gave the judges a chance to rescue one contestant from the bottom three who they felt deserved another chance.

However, the rule was removed before Season 32, though the show never addressed why. Would the judges have saved Taylor Hanson and Britt Stewart? We’ll never know, but many fans believe the elimination was unfair. Share your thoughts in the comments.
