Dancing with the Stars has made some changes when it comes to its casting lately. However, one pro dancer, Val Chmerkovskiy, wants to switch things up even more. Keep reading to find out what he has to say.
DWTS Pro Val’s Dream Partner
Dancing with the Stars pro, Val Chmerkovskiy, first joined the show in Season 13, which was all the way back in 2011. So, he’s been with several different celebrity dancing partners over the past 15 years. However, now, he’s interested in exploring something totally new for the show. A male-on-male partnership.
The dancer explains that this would not only challenge him, but help ‘reinvent’ what he’s done on the show so far.
“I want to challenge myself creatively and also recreate and reinvent what I’ve done in that ballroom for the last 22 seasons. I’ve been around the block a couple of times,” Val says, according to Yahoo!. “I would love to be paired up with a male contestant.”
While the show has done female matchups before, they’ve never put two males together. In 2021, JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson (Val’s wife) were paired together. Now, during this season, Sarah Jane Nader and Hailey Bills are partners.
Because of these matchups, Val thinks that a double male partnership could be coming soon.
“I know that that’s on the horizon,” Val explains. “I would love for it to not be exclusive to, you know, [be] based on anything outside of just creating art that looks slightly different from what we’re used to seeing, and I’d love the opportunity to do that.”
What About His Wife?
Of course, Val isn’t the only one with a dream pairing for the show. His wife, Jenna Johnson, also has her matchup goal as well. Jenna has been on the show for 12 years, after joining back in 2014 as a member of the troupe. Her first pairing was Jake T. Austin in 2016.
Now, ten years later, she has her eyes on the NFL prize. Apparently, she wants a football player matchup.
“I just know that they always have such a great work ethic,” she says.
She even has one picked out already. None other than Travis Kelce’s brother, Jason Kelce.
“Jason Kelce would be so much fun, and I think he would do an incredible job,” she continues.
Hopefully one season both Val and Jenna will get their partner wishes! For now, they have to keep their eyes on the prize as Season 35 of the show just kicked off last week.
