Fox Reporter Taryn Asher Caught Calling Boss A ‘B*tch’ In Hot Mic Moment
Taryn Asher joined Fox 2 Detroit in 2007. She won multiple local Emmy Awards for her stellar reporting. But things weren’t so great behind the scenes. She was caught on a hot mic ranting about her boss and calling her a “b*tch” after a confrontation. The incident happened in 2023 but is back in the news after new details were revealed.
Taryn Asher cursed her supervisor out without realizing she was still on the microphone. The local news anchor was reportedly reading from a script when her supervisor could be heard off camera telling her she was working on the script. The anchor said that she didn’t have time to wait, prompting the supervisor to walk off the set.
“B*tch! Jeeze, oh Pete! Can I please finish what I’m gonna say? What the f**k! Grow up!” Taryn Asher said on the hot mic. She was also heard saying, “I’m so done with her antics, telling on me every five seconds. I’m done.”
Surprisingly, she wasn’t immediately fired for her behavior. She was suspended in 2023 but returned to work eventually. According to Radar Online, Taryn Asher was suspended again in 2025 and officially fired in 2026. The details about what led to her second suspension weren’t disclosed. However, a lot of social media users were on the anchor’s side in the dispute.

Taryn Asher later filed a lawsuit against Fox 2 Detroit, claiming gender discrimination and retaliation. A no-compete clause in her contract prevented her from finding other work for six months after her June firing. Multiple outlets reported that she just reached an agreement with the local news channel and can now seek other work.
“With this non-compete issue now behind her, Ms. Asher is actively pursuing opportunities in the industry, and she hopes to stay in Detroit, a community she has cherished and where she has developed meaningful connections with viewers over the years,” her lawyer said in a statement.
