It has been less than a year since Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane passed away. Now, his widow, Rebecca Gayheart, is offering a huge update on their daughters after his death. Keep reading for more on what she had to share.
Eric Dane Sadly Died At 53
When Eric Dane revealed that he had ALS, there was so much hope that he would be able to live with it. Rather, he would find a way to manage his symptoms and be around for his two daughters, Georgia and Billie. He had been married to actress Rebecca Gayheart since 2004, but they had a rocky relationship. Rebecca filed for divorce in 2018, but after Eric was diagnosed with ALS, she filed to call off the divorce. He had been in two other relationships after the divorce filing. Yet, Rebecca was always by his side, especially when it came to their daughters.
Sadly, just a year after Eric revealed his diagnosis, he passed away in February 2026. He left behind Georgia, 14, and Billie, 16. So, how are the teens doing without their father seven months after he died? Rebecca is giving an update to People on their girls, and they are doing as well as can be expected:
“You know, we’re hanging in there. I think it’s definitely a challenging season, but we’re doing our best. The girls are both in high school — which is also a big transition under any circumstance — so I’m just staying close to my kids.”
There has been a lot going on in the girls’ lives, but it seems that Rebecca Gayheart is trying her best to be there for them. Moreover, she is mourning as much as they are, so they can grieve as a unit. So, how is she taking care of herself amid her sadness and the loss of Eric Dane?
“[I connect with] friends. My children. Being under the same roof with my kids and having them next to me, safe, always makes me feel better. You know, there’s certain people I like to talk to get my feelings out, but really just — again — being connected to other human beings. That’s what gets me through.”
A Lot Of Pride
Followers of the story have been confused regarding Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart’s relationship status. They did not understand whether they had been divorced when he died or reconciled. However, it seems that her goal is to raise two girls who will always love and respect their father. Plus, she wants to keep his legacy alive, and fans respect that:
