Several design duos have gone head-to-head on Battle on the Beach, but only a few have emerged victorious.
The HGTV competition series debuted in 2021 and follows teams of home renovators and designers as they transform identical beachside properties into desirable beach house rentals. The team that secures the highest value for their completed renovation earns bragging rights and takes home a $50,000 cash prize.
HGTV’s Ty Pennington, Alison Victoria, and Taniya Nayak served as the show’s mentors from Season 1 to Season 4, with stars such as Mike Holmes, Mina Starsiak Hawk, and Sarah and Bryan Baeumler serving as judges over the years.
Sarah joined Pennington as a mentor for Season 5, which premiered in June 2026, alongside newcomer Mika Kleinschmidt. Renovation Aloha‘s Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama also joined the series as judges.
The show’s Season 5 return came after Victoria alleged in July 2025 that the series had been canceled. Following the show’s Season 5 renewal news, Pennington exclusively told TV Insider, “I’ve been in the television industry for a long time. I just know when it comes to TV, nothing’s really canceled. I think that’s a big word. Sometimes, people are just re-evaluating what is doing well, what they know they want to see more of.”
