Nidal Malik Hasan was previously found guilty of the 2009 Fort Hood shooting back in 2013, and has since been sentenced to death by firing squad. Since then, it’s been shared the the public would be able to stream the execution. One political figure has already shared a few details of the proceeding, with the execution even set for a meaningful date.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth Spoke About Nidal Malik Hasan’s Upcoming Execution While On Real America’s Voice

Nidal Malik Hasan is a former U.S. Army major and psychiatrist. He has been convicted of the 2009 Fort Hood shooting in Killeen, Texas. During the December 3 shooting, 13 people lost their lives while 32 others were injured. In 2013, he was found guilty of the charges against him, making him eligible for the death penalty.

Since then, Hasan has been sentenced to execution by firing squad. This measure was approved by President Donald Trump following a recommendation from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Hegseth himself recently appeared on Real America’s Voice to address the president’s decision to reinstate the firing squad for Hasan. While he didn’t go into detail over the execution, he expressed that the public would be able to view it. As he shared, “[Hasan’s] going to get a firing squad of soldiers, and we’ll make sure that people are able to watch it.”

The Execution Will Take Place On December 3, Highlighting The Date Of The Original Fort Hood Attack

Hegseth continued, sharing, “People need to understand that there’s serious consequences for these types of things.” Calling the method of execution a “no-brainer,” he claimed that it will take place at 1 PM on December 3 at Fort Hood. This is notably the same day and time of day as Hasan’s attack.

According to NBC News, the public will be able to stream the execution. However, it hasn’t been confirmed which platform will be used at this time.

This marks the first time in around 90 years that there has been a public execution in the United States. The U.S. military hasn’t put anyone to death since 1961. At the time, Army Pvt. John Bennett was hanged at Fort Leavenworth. The last military firing-squad execution took place in 1945 when Pvt. Eddie Slovik was shot to death in France. Notably, as many outlets noted, this also takes place shortly after Christa Pike survived execution by lethal injection before being rushed to the hospital.

According to AP News, Hegseth was also asked if Hasan had many any final requests or tried to reach out to the administration. He simply shared, “Don’t care. We’ll see him on Dec. 3.”
