It’s been over a year since Chad Duell made his exit from General Hospital. Since then, however, he’s got big news to share with fans, making the announcement on social media. With the news, he’s also joining the ranks of a number of the soap’s alumni.
Chad Duell Played Michael Corinthos On General Hospital From 2010 To Early 2025
As an actor, Duell is known for playing Michael Corinthos on General Hospital. First appearing as the character in 2010, Duell took over the role from Drew Garrett.
In November 2024, Duell announced his exit from the soap. His final episode aired in late January of the following year, with his character getting caught in a fire in Sonny’s office.
While the character survived, Michael was transferred to a hospital in Germany. Fans would eventually see the character wear another face, as Rory Gibson has since taken over the role on the soap.
Since then, Duell has been involved in other projects outside of daytime television. Shortly after exiting the soap, for example, he landed a leading role in Bruce Reisman’s world premiere of Yum Yum at Annapolis.
Duell Will Soon Join The Ranks Of A Few Of The Soap’s Other Stars, Including Jack Wagner & Jonathan Jackson
Over this past weekend, Duell had news to share with fans on his official Instagram account. He shared a link to his first single, “If You Need Me,” which can be pre-saved on Spotify.
Duell’s new single will drop on June 26, 2026. Once the song is released, he is expected to share more information about the story.
As previously reported, Duell originally shared that he was leaving Port Charles was to spend more time with his family, inspired by his losing his father in 2024 and becoming a father himself to his son, Dawson.
Duell Previously Opened Up About Whether He Would Like To Return To The Soap
Duell now joins a number of other General Hospital alumni who have a career in music, either before or after appearing on the show. Some of the show’s musical stars include Rick Springfield (Noah), Ricky Martin (Miguel Morez), Jack Wagner (Frisco), and Jonathan Jackson (Lucky).
However, General Hospital fans are wondering if they will ever see Duell back in Port Charles. While on The Daily Drama podcast, he shared that he wasn’t against returning to the soap. He shared, “Obviously, with Frank [Valentini] and everything, I left the door open there. Right now, I’m just trying to grow in ways that maybe I feel like I stifled myself in certain aspects, and sometimes you need to take drastic steps or make yourself feel uncomfortable to take a step.”
For the time being, the role of Michael is already being filled, but Duell could appear as another character. Of course, anything can happen on a soap. Fans will have to keep watching to see what happens next.
