James West Has Been Played BY A Number Of Young Actors On General Hospital
On General Hospital, James West is the son of Nathan West and Maxie Jones, with the character being born in 2018. As is often the case with young children on soaps, James has been played by multiple young actors since his appearance. In fact, he has even been played by multiple actors at times.
Gary James Fuller recently took over the role in 2023. However, fans recently saw a different James West on their screens, and it comes out during a hard time for the character.

However, during the big moment, James wasn’t played by his regular actor, Fuller. As Soap Opera Digest reported, he was being played by another young actor, Easton Winn. Reportedly, this is one of the actor’s first television roles.
According to reports, the casting change is only temporary but seems tied to an incident involving Fuller. Back in June, it was reported that the young actor got hurt during a biking accident. At the time, Fuller shared that he was alright. However, he still had to remain in the hospital and undergo two surgeries.

At the time, Fuller himself opened up about the situation on social media, where he felt that the situation paralleled his character’s own stories. Taking to Instagram, he joked, “If you watch General Hospital, you know James has spent his fair share of time in the ER. Apparently, I decided that playing him wasn’t enough—I had to try it myself.”
Fuller continued, “What started as a ride on my minibike turned into a trip to the trauma center, two surgeries, and almost a week in the hospital. Definitely not how I planned to spend my week.”
The young actor noted, “The good news is that I’m doing well and getting stronger every day. The doctors, nurses, and hospital staff took amazing care of me, and I’m really thankful for everyone who helped and everyone who sent messages, prayers, and support.” He also shared that he has since returned home.
General Hospital normally films several weeks in advance. This means that these recent scenes on the soap were filmed while Fuller was recovering from the accident. At this time, it is unknown just when Fuller will make his return to Port Charles. Regardless, the kids are just as resilient on the show as they are off, and fans will simply have to stay tuned into the soap to see what happens next.
