What To Know

  • Ginger Zee revealed on Instagram that she frequently re-wears the same outfits on Good Morning America.
  • Fans praised Zee for her sustainable fashion choices and for setting a positive example by valuing quality and longevity in her wardrobe.
  • This week, Zee also clapped back at a fan who accused her of “fear-mongering” with her weather reports about extreme heat across the country.

When it comes to selecting her clothes for Good Morning America, Ginger Zee sticks with her tried-and-true favorite looks.

In a Tuesday, July 14, Instagram post, Zee playfully called herself out for being an outfit repeater on the ABC morning show. “If you think data and facts about heat get people all worked up… imagine their disdain when I emphasize my anti-consumerism practice of going 4+ years without buying new clothing,” she wrote.

Zee’s post featured several photos of herself sporting the same yellow dress on the show over the years. She wore the same dress on Tuesday. “Dress today is an oldie but a goodie I’ve had for at least 8 years. #nonewclothes,” Zee stated.

Fans appreciated Zee’s dedication to re-wearing her existing clothes rather than purchasing new items. “Very nice Yellow Dress if it still fits that’s Good enough Reason to keep it,” one user commented underneath the post. Another added, “You look amazing. This outfit is a reminder that when we buy quality and take care of our things, they can last and look good for years.”

Someone else shared, “Butter yellow is your color!!!!! We all re-wear our favorites, you are a great example.” A different person posted, “My absolutely fav dress of yours, looks like it was made just for you.” A separate commenter gushed, “I love it!! Setting an excellent example in a very consumer driven world!”

Earlier this year, Zee took to Instagram to address comments about her on-air appearance, particularly not-so-nice ones. “Lots of opinions out there before 8am,” she wrote before showing social media comments she had received about clothing and makeup choices,

“Ellie May?! Who chose that outfit?!” one comment read, while another stated, “Can’t hide those baggy eyes.” A third said, “Stop wearing pants!!!” Clapping back at the critics, Zee wrote, “I’m just excited you are still watching.”

She also thanked the fans that show their support for her online, writing, “And I do see the positivity too – thank you!” In the post’s caption, she added, “Appreciate that you have an opinion— I just don’t always agree. And that’s ok— thank you for watching.”

This week, Zee also hopped on Instagram to slam a comment accusing her of “fear-mongering” with her weather reports about record-breaking heat across the country.

“Tell me how it’s fear-mongering when I am stating facts? Are you afraid? Did I tell you to be afraid? Go watch back my video and try that again, because ‘it’s called July’ is actually not what it is,” she stated while backstage at GMA. “It’s July now, because these are the numbers we’re seeing now. But in Salt Lake City, for example, 1874 is when reliable records began, and we have not seen 109 [degrees] ever since reported history. That’s all I’m saying.”

She concluded the Monday, July 13, clip by saying, “I don’t understand why you get so moved by this. Maybe that’s something you should talk to your therapist about.”
