Janai Norman, a former Good Morning America Weekend anchor, just revealed a major move seven months after being axed from the network.

On Friday, November 6, Norman took to her Instagram Stories to announce that she, her husband, Eli, and their three children have relocated to South Africa — specifically, the KwaZulu-Natal province, per The U.S. Sun.

“Less than two months out from publication, forcing myself to post daily for 60 days and make use of stories,” Norman wrote, of her memoir Breaking, which will be released on January 5. She added in another Instagram Stories segment, “On that note, pre-orders are really important. Have you ordered yours?”

That’s when Norman dropped moving news, sharing, “And speaking of breaking, have I mentioned my family is taking a break from the US?” alongside a snapshot of a street lined with palm trees. “And now we see monkeys all the time,” she continued, offering adorable photo proof.

On April 3, Norman officially confirmed her GMA Weekend exit in a video message to fans on Instagram.

“I hoped that we’d have more time, and it’s been hard on me that our time was cut short,” she told her followers. “I have loved my job. It has been a joy to connect with my coworkers and with viewers, to help keep you informed and entertained, and to create this community. So it really breaks my heart that I don’t get to say goodbye. I’m so sorry that I don’t get to say goodbye — it would have been fun.”

“I have these three young kids, and I have worked weekends their whole lives, and so now, they get more of me, and that is worth everything. So stay tuned, I’m sorry, I feel you, and thank you to every single one of you who has reached out with such kind and validating words. I have needed it, and I appreciate it.”
