It’s been 15 years since Hart of Dixie premiered on The CW, and the show’s leading lady, Rachel Bilson, still looks back on it fondly. While celebrating the beloved series’ 15th anniversary on June 10, Bilson shared that her favorite episode of the four-season series is “In Havoc & In Heat,” the fourth episode of Season 1.
Bilson recalled the episode being “the first time things started to come to the surface” with her character, Zoe, and Wade (Wilson Bethel). “And everyone is acting a little crazy from the heat,” she told TV Insider. “I got to pour water all over Wilson and there were abs walking around everywhere.”
The actress pointed out that the episode is “fun and funny,” while also noting that it was “directed by one of our absolute favorites, David Paymer.”

Bilson reunited with costars Jaime King, Bethel, and Kaitlyn Black, along with creator/executive producer Leila Gerstein, costumer Cameron Dale, and executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage at Pluto TV’s Hart of Dixie: Back in Style event in Los Angeles on June 10.
“It’s incredible to see fans continuing to embrace Hart of Dixie as their comfort show,” Bilson admitted. “My feed is full of 2010s nostalgia right now, so it feels like the perfect moment to celebrate the show’s legacy and the audiences who are still discovering Bluebell, Alabama, 15 years later.”
Hart of Dixie ran for four seasons from 2011 to 2015. Bilson played Zoe Hart, a doctor who was forced to relocate from New York to the small town of Bluebell, Alabama, after failing to secure a fellowship in the city. The series followed Zoe as she adjusted to working at a small-town practice with local doctor Brick Breeland (Tim Matheson). All four seasons of the series are currently streaming on Pluto TV.
