‘Hawaii Five-O’ Actor Dead At 56

Hawaii Five-O star Taylor Wily has died at the age of 56. The actor and UFC fighter passed away on Thursday. His family confirmed his death after sharing a video of them paying tribute to the late Forgetting Sarah Marshall actor. Here is what has been shared about the star’s death so far.

Taylor Wily’s Sister Shares Touching Post

Wily, whose real name was Teila Tuli, played Kamekona Tupuola on Hawaii Five-O and has become a beloved part of the show over the years. His sister, Alyssa, shared a clip of the family celebrating Taylor Wily’s life on Thursday.

They had a family gathering where they played games, ate good food, and cooked together.

“Mourning and celebrating our favorite brother and uncle the way he would want us to,” she wrote in the caption on Facebook. “Family, Food, Music and Good Vibes. Aurrrrrrighhhhh (in his voice).”

Taylor’s sister also shared another clip of the Hawaii Five-O star’s nephews and nieces singing Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds (Don’t Worry About A Thing). They sang the song in honor of their uncle. Alyssa wrote along with the post, “Singing for their uncle tee.”

Wily’s sister also changed her Facebook profile picture to honor her brother. It now shows an image of the UFC fighter smiling. She captioned it with a brown emoji.

Hawaii Five-O Catapulted Wily Into Stardom

The star recently celebrated a birthday. He was born on June 14, 1968 in Laie, Hawaii. He got his start in acting on the show North Shore in 2004, but his claim to fame was on Hawaii Five-O. Wily played the role of Kamekona on all 10 seasons of the beloved police drama before it ended in 2020.

On the show, his character was an informant for the police. Kamekona also had several businesses of his own, including Wailoa Shaved Ice, helicopter tours, and a shrimp food truck. Wily also played Kamekona in the series Magnum P.I.

Before landing his role on Hawaii Five-O, he also appeared in the 2008 film Forgetting Sarah Marshall. He acted alongside Jason Segel, Paul Rudd, and Kristen Bell in the role. Taylor Wily was also featured in a short film called Gut Instinct.

In addition to his career on the big and small screens, Wily was also a mixed martial artist and sumo wrestler. He competed in the first-ever UFC event in 1993 against Gerard Gordeau. After being kicked in the jaw, Wily lost one of his teeth. However, he said that he never had any regrets about participating in the UFC.

Wily was married to Halona Wily. The couple shared two children together, one daughter (TulaLagalaga Tatalo) and a son (YoungAsia).
