How Hallmark Cameos With Tyler Hynes & Andrew Walker Happened

TV Shows

Hallmark had a lot of fun this Christmas when Andrew Walker and Tyler Hynes appeared in each other’s movies.

How did these Easter eggs come about?

Tyler Hynes Makes Cameo In Andrew Walker’s Movie

Hallmark fans got some bonus treats this Christmas. There were several actor crossovers.

First of all, Tyler Hynes showed up as a waiter in Andrew Walker’s movie, My Christmas Family Tree. Andrew then was a brief cameo in Tyler’s An Unexpected Christmas.

They nearly crossed paths at a restaurant, with Andrew being taken to a “table for Walker.”

Next, Paul Campbell, who wrote An Unexpected Christmas, and starred in The Santa Stakeout had his own cameo. He made a short appearance as a firefighter in Kimberley Sustad’s Nine Kittens of Christmas. Paul and Kimberley have frequently acted together, including last year’s hit, Christmas By Starlight.

Hallmark Cameos Started As Joke Between Andrew Walker, Tyler Hynes

According to an interview with E! News, Paul Campbell shared that this all started as a joke. They were all filming their Countdown to Christmas movies, and the ideas started flowing. Campbell explained how it all happened.

Andrew was in town shooting his movie and I know they were hanging out and Andrew was like, ‘Hey, why don’t you come and show up the background?’

And Tyler was like, ‘Great, why don’t you come show up in ours?” It kind of started as a joke and then everybody realized what a great idea was.

Originally, Campbell planned to do a cameo in An Unexpected Christmas. That seemed like the perfect Easter egg, as he did write the script.

However, the big guys turned that idea down. Campbell explained why this cameo never happened.  “Hallmark was like, ‘Alright, we’ve seen enough of you this year. You can’t show up in all the movies.’” Therefore, it was Andrew that made the cameo.

Do you want to see the whole thing again? Thankfully, Andrew Walker documented on Instagram his Unexpected Christmas cameo.

What is also pretty interesting is that Andrew and Tyler are actually related. Andrew is married to Tyler’s cousin, fitness influencer, Cassandra Troy.

In addition, Tyler had shared on his first Deck The Hallmark interview that it was Andrew who first got him on Hallmark. So, those Hynies have to thank Andrew for this recommendation.

Hallmark Has Created Great Atmosphere For Actors

Could fans see more of this Hallmark Christmas fun next year? Campbell seems to think so. Moreover, he has indicated that doing movies for Hallmark is a family affair. Everyone has become friends. “What Hallmark has done that is so outstanding is that they have created a community, which is so rare.”

If fans ever wanted a testimonial about Hallmark as a network, Paul Campbell could not be happier.

After five years of working for Hallmark and Hallmark being loyal to all of their people, everyone kind of gets to know everybody else.

What do you think of the Hallmark cameos this Christmas?
